Cyprus, Europe

Some hotels enjoy spectacular locations. Some benefit from incredible amenities. And there are a select few that are wonderfully situated and perfectly appointed with superb rooms, amenities and service. The 4 and a half star Constantinou Bros Athena Beach Hotel is one of those rare hotels. It enjoys a beautiful beachfront location in Paphos, within easy reach of the tourist centre and must-see harbour.

Choose the Constantinou Bros Athena Beach Hotel in Paphos for stunning location, culinary variety in 6 restaurants and 4 bars and facilities

There's so much to see and do in Paphos. It's one of the essential places to stay in any holiday to Cyprus. And when you stay at the Constantinou Bros Athena Beach Hotel you'll have easy access to the beach, the harbour, the archaeological sites and the great shops too. But as well as all of that, you'll have the amenities of the hotel itself to enjoy and they really are worth writing home about.

For a start, there are three amazing freshwater pools - two with jacuzzis, as well as two paddling pools and a heated indoor pool (heated November - April). The hotel's Elixir Spa is another highlight. At the Constantinou Bros Athena Beach Hotel every consideration is given to making your stay relaxing and invigorating and nothing invigorates quite like one of their massages – followed by a wonderfully relaxing aromatherapy treatment. (There's a waterslide too – for those who fancy a different kind of invigorating experience.)

If you fancy a bit of sporty action, you can take your pick from mini golf to bowls to tennis! Or you can work up quite an appetite in the hotel gym. It's particularly well-stocked so you can continue your customary exercise regime, or enjoy a bit of a light holiday work-out to burn off a few extra pudding calories!

With such a great selection of places to eat – all in the hotel – you'll certainly want to take full advantage. From far Eastern cuisine to local favorites, from a la carte dining to four course meals, there's a menu and a setting for everyone. From the cocktail bar to the beach bar to room service, you can choose what, where and when you eat.

It's certainly hard to resist the idea of a little room service now and then – particularly when you return to your room after a busy day. All rooms have floor to ceiling windows, with ensuites and come with air-conditioning (May-Oct), central heating (Nov-Apr), flat screen LCD satellite TV, radio, phone, tea and coffee making facilities replenished daily, espresso machine and FREE WI-FI. A fridge, minibar on request with charge and free safety deposit box. The bathroom is complete with bath tub, rain shower and flexible hose shower, hairdryer, bathrobe & slippers, scales and deluxe toiletries including a magnifying mirror, ironing facilities , pool/beach towels in room towels, USB socket.

Please note that motorised wheelchairs/scooters are prohibited to be used within the hotel.

A mix of vibes

Review by Cypha Helsinki, Finland

Hey there folks,

This time around there is a mix of feelings about the whole visit. Hotel itself is on a strip that is bulging with hotels. Just next to the more rocky-less sandy beach line. What that also means is they are self aware that most activities like dining, drinking, sunbathing, spa relaxation, shopping for amenities, having a bingo night or a dance off at the club or just pumping iron is all located inside the hotel premises. There is even a on-site tourism bureau if you want to convienently book a trip...

Now all that gives off a hostel vibe, but with an expectancy of a hotel.

The looks of the hotel? It's between luxury and mediocre. Grand vestibule, yet outdated rooms. Large dininghalls, yet worn out tables and chairs. Sensory balance is missing, but that is neither here nor there.

Now. The staff. While they all speak excellent and well pronounced english, that doesn't mean that understanding you equals wanting to actually help you.

I arrived at 2 am in the morning and was greeted with a snarky remark of "you're very late." I did announce it two weeks beforehand that I'll be a late check-in, but since reception is 24/7 I was told that it bares no consequence nor meaning. So we check in and...One bed. Room description was 1 single and 1 extra large double bed. Back to the reception. They apologise and ask me to wait 10 minutes for it to be fixed in my room. Reasonable. Now, 30 minutes later nothing happened. I call reception and they start balking "can't you wait until morning? It's just one night." I stood my ground and an annoyed receptionist came to fix the beds up. We got 2 singles.

It's 3 am in the morning and I can finally sleep. In the morning I ask about the room description from reception. A manager comes and starts blaming my booking agent, a well known site with same name, for the mix up. They provide no solution nor help. I ask the booking agent and of course - every bit of info on the hotel is added by the hotel itself. So the hotel has made a mistake in misrepresenting themselves, yet they deny it and the customer is left with no recourse or compensation.

The rooms? Clean for most part. Wear and tear here and there. Nothing to write home about. Except that they are too hot in the winter with central heating and the ventilation in the room is too noisy to be kept on.

Food? Breakfast is plentiful. There are actually 3? Dinimg halls. One reserved for premium customers with fancier rooms and two for the rest of the quests. It will do.

All in all it's a decent option, but it comes with those nagging little things...

Amazing stay

Review by evadventuresBE Leuven, Belgium

Athena Beach Hotel is really amazing. The location next to the sea is wonderful, you can sit at a little beach (with pier), in the garden or next to the pools. We had a superior room with sea view with a very large balcony (with sunbeds, table and chairs), perfect to enjoy the sea view...

There were several restaurants where you could eat 'a la carte' or 'from a buffet', perfect to have some variation. With the all inclusive formula, you can enjoy also the cocktails in the bars. It is a 30 min walk to the harbour along a nice beach path. We enjoyed the peace and quitness there. I would go back, I enjoyed y stay there.
