Good for short break

Review by Derman23 Reading, United Kingdom

I’ll start with the negatives to make people aware if they’re not already -

This place doesn’t really have a beach - It has sand but only has a very small entry point to the sea and it’s very rocky.

All inclusive - food is pretty good but only house alcohol (quite watery) available unless you upgrade to plus or premium (can’t remember the exact name)

Rooms - our particular room was ok, but came with a few issues if you were really picky

Positives -

Great service and amazing staff - very friendly helpful and hard working.

Fantastic spa - very good prices and amazing treatments.

General look and feel of the hotel was very clean welcoming and definitely has a 5 star feel.

Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel We had a very enjoyable short trip to a very nice country with amazing people.

Too busy - not relaxing at all

Review by nikkif899

We stayed here for two weeks at the beginning of October, looking forward to a relaxing break. Unfortunately that's not what we got - the hotel was at maximum capacity, but had not opened one of the restaurants (The Garden Restaurant) and half the pool bar remained closed so it was always a bit of a scrum at mealtimes and to get served for drinks. Loud music playing everywhere all day and until 11pm inside and out...

The staff seemed overworked and unhappy, but still tried their best to deal with everyone as best they could but you could tell they were really struggling.

The only way to get two sunbeds together was to get up early and reserve with towels, and towards the end of the second week it was so crowded around the pool that the beds were only an inch apart. The beach area also got very busy.

Our room was a standard side sea view on the second floor, which was small but perfectly adequate with a very comfortable super king bed and bath with shower over. It was not quiet as it was adjacent to the entertainment in the next door hotel, but most music stopped at 11pm.

Food was fine, but seemed to be on a one week menu rotation so if you stay for two weeks you will probably end up eating out a few times just for a change. Booking the two non-buffet restaurants was impossible on the electronic ipad thing in reception so we had to ask guest relations to do it for us and I suggest you do it as soon as you get there as it books up so quickly.

Housekeeping was charming but haphazard - sometimes two towels, sometimes three, sometimes no flannels, sometimes five (!), water replaced occasionally, had to call down to reception for replacement cups, the 'do not disturb' sign disappeared half way through our stay and never came back.

We loved the Paphos area, and will be back, but not to this hotel.

Not value for Money

Review by S7703PQrichardb

Recently returned from a 14 night stay which can only be described as a waste of valuable downtime from work! After 2 years of waiting this was a terrible expensive dissapointment. The food was average at best, breakfast being the most acceptable. The a la carte restaurants (as they are wrongly called) aren't worth booking either. During our second week there seemed to be a large conference at the hotel meaning that there were many more people for lunch and certainly dinner even though many of the participants weren't staying at the hotel...

The effect of this was enormous; at dinner the restaurant became so busy that every table was occupied and the queus were enormous. The staff had set up another dining area in cafeteria style putting long tables together, I presume intended for the conference attendees but they didn't use it. We didn't particularly want to share a long table with other guests in the light of Covid-19 prevention. That brings me on to Covid rules for the hotel - There were rules but I would say that 50% ignored the rules. Many would get in to the lift without a mask, the lifts were supoosed to be limited to 4 but again guests would not adhere to this. I actually challenged one UK golfing guest asking if he had a mask to wear in the lift as he tried to get in and he said "I don't beleive in all that rubbish". Not once did I see anyone be challenged about covid-19 rules, just like there weren't any. Sorry Kevin in the lounge bar did ask guests to wear a mask while queing at the bar but he was the only one. The hotel was more like an 18 - 30 hotel, very noisy music around the pool, young people enjoying themselves ( I am not against that) but not really what I eexpected from an adults only hotel to be fair. On our last night we were kept awake by guests in the pool singing and shouting at 3.30am. They were eventually removed but nevertheless it was bad! The staff in my opinion were very unhappy, overworked and felt unappreciated by the management. Despite that on the whole they tried hard to make our stay nice. However if the staff are unhappy it can only lead the hotel in one direction - the wrong direction in my opinion. The hotel location is nice enough and as you take the path to Paphos you look with regret that your aren't staying in any of the other hotels along the way. All in all, if you want a noisy, rule free holiday on a 18-30 resort hotel basis then this is probably right up your street. However if you want a relaxing, stress free break just to chill out then avoid this hotel.

Not as good as it was

Review by Daydream51612724900 Cotgrave, United Kingdom

Gone right down in our estimation. Had been here in April 2018 i.e. prior to the extension, and had a fantastic time - great service, plenty of space, relaxed atmosphere etc. Following the extension, it would appear that whilst there are significantly more guests, the staff levels haven’t been adjusted accordingly - particularly in the bar area where there were significant waiting times. Despite signs advising the need to wear face masks at the bar, I’d suggest about 40% of customers didn’t adhere to this. Although a number of guests advised the management about the bar issues (service/mask wearing), nothing appeared to change/improve. Buffet restaurant was good for both breakfast and lunch but we found the selection/quality of food for dinner to be average at best. Our room, a garden bungalow, was excellent.
