Within easy reach of the town and harbour of Paphos by local bus service, the Venus Beach offers good standards of comfort and amenities. Overlooking the sea, near The Tombs of the Kings, one of Paphos's famous archaeological sites, the hotel is set in peaceful gardens which contain a large outdoor pool.
The Hotel boasts 5 stars and this could not be further from the truth. The Hotel lacks in so many areas, decor, cleanliness and staff that want to go the extra mile. Even a meeting with the manager was not upheld after a request...
All in all the hotel is a 3 star at best. Walls lack art and decor, bland and without feeling is how the whole hotel feels. Some of the communal areas were dier, to be frank. We booked an all-inclusive stay which we changes immediately after seeing the hotel and also trialling 3 local drinks from the bar (tasted like spirit with no similarity to the actual drink they were meant to be). The room service was nothing short of diabolical, beds were made with minimum effort and without any care, bins not emptied and coffee cups stagnant in the room for 3 days (as a test). The tea and coffee facilities were a constant battle and not being left in the room! The ironing was on one floor and nothing short of a make-do room which was terrible. The beach is not part of the hotel and you will be charged for using any longers on the beach. The walk to the beach (municipal) and very much NOT private, was nothing short of treacherous terrain, holes and rocks to overcome to get to the beach. The pool was nice and cold (respite) but again never saw this being cleaned and again sited rubbish that was not taken from the pool from day 1 to the last day we stayed there. All in all a well-travelled couple who will not be revisiting due to the poor nature of how this was portrayed and what it delivered.
All in all a far cry from even being close to a 4 Star, let alone the boast for 5 stars.
I visited the Venus Beach hotel in September 21 for a 2 week holiday with a friend. We had visited in September of last year for just a week and enjoyed it so much that we decided to extend our stay this year to 2 weeks. I can honestly say that I cannot fault anything about the hotel or indeed the staff that attended to our every need...
Everyone was attentive, friendly and so very accommodating. The facilities are great, and standards of cleanliness in ALL areas are very good. Having read a few previous reviews on this site, I wonder as to whether those who had any negativity towards staff etc were actually staying at the same hotel?!?! I will be returning again next year, and would advise anyone who is looking for a relaxing beach/ relaxing holiday, to definitely consider Venus Beach 😊
I am giving the hotel 4 stars based on the excellent value deal we got for our stay. If I had paid 5 star rates I would have given it much less. I think many are paying 3 star rates for a stay here and still expecting 5 star amenities then giving poor reviews accordingly...
The hotel definately needs someone to tidy it up around the edges in the communal areas. For example, the hotels sign is missing letter which gives a poor arriving impression. Carpets are showing signs of wear throughout. However our rooms had been renovated and were nicely furnished and roomy. My kids loved the pool and the beach was nice. There was a private free carpark. The hotel has a lidls opposite and nice restaurants within short walk. It is conveniently located to Paphos itself and on the coast road if you have a car to visit further afield. We visited most of the South of the island during our stay and loved Cyprus. We were bed and breakfast and the breakfast was fine for us, with hot food, cold meats, bread, pastries, salad, fruit, yogurt etc. The cooks were lovely and chatty and friendly and would happily make you a fresh omelette or pancakes or grill your holoumi. However we heard from all inclusive guests that lunch and dinner were pretty rubbish so glad we were only breakfast. There was a nice bar overlooking the pool for an evening drink. However there was either no or very poor entertainment, which was a little disappointing. The bar staff were nice though. My older son found the gym being closed very annoying, I found the indoor pool being closed annoying for a child free evening or early morning swim. My younger children found the pool opening late and shutting early annoying. We found the staff helpful and friendly when we had problems eg locked key in room. I think the staff overall were very friendly and helpful to us, I am surprised to hear other reviews say otherwise. However some people did treat the staff like dirt so maybe a smile and kind word to the staff would have changed some reviewers experience. Overall we had a great stay and would stay again without hesitation :)
Excellent hotel with wonderful staff, friendly and helpful. Great location for Paphos Harbour and town. A great variety of food to select from...
The rooms are clean and spacious. Lovely pool with pool side bar. Beach is clean and only a minutes walk.
Definitely not a 5* Hotel. This is our 2nd visit to Venus Beach, and how 12 months has changed. I will start with the good points before the not so good...
Close to a stunning safe beach Close to a Lidl Close to bus stops to Paphos town and Coral Bay
Rooms Comfortable , bright , good Air Con, Fridge, Hair Dryer, TV multiple languages, and a lovely sea view.
Food Buffet Breakfast, various options from cooked to continental to Salad. Lunch is a buffet too with salad options
Swimming Pool A large pool with a smaller kids pool adjacent.
Bar there are 2 bars at the venue , on terrace bar which is open until 00:01hrs and one pool bar which shuts at 19:00hrs.
The not so Good points.
Rooms Toilet didn't flush. Despite reporting this three times during my stay. It was not fixed resulting in us having to dismantle the plunger each time we had to flush it. Cleanliness, the sweeping of the room floors was not particularly good which feet permanently covered in sand. A quick check under the bed revealed it had not been swept for sometime.
Staff. The manager (a tall chap) of the hotel has to be one of the rudest I have ever met at a Hotel. He even jumped into a que for the hot buffet without even asking if he could this happened on three occasions. He would not let one of the guests take a lift from floor zero and jumped in (I'm sure guest are the priority). Waiting Staff. The male waiting staff (older chaps in white shirts) at meal times treat the female waitresses appallingly. We witnessed one rudely telling her to stop setting a table and get some wine. You could see she was distressed by the way she had been spoken too. The male waiters seldom get the orders, (this is a huge change from last year as the staff were friendly). In contrast, the older waiter in the terrace bar was very pleasant and friendly.
All inclusive, The rooms lack tea/coffee making facilities which would be ideal. On a couple of occasions we returned late and there was no option for a quick hot drink before bed.
Conclusion. We re booked this hotel after a fabulous break in 2020. Whilst we enjoyed our holiday, the Hotel is not as nice or as friendly anymore. I doubt we will return to this Hotel in 2022. 😢
