Many Happy Returns...

Review by JWR6071 Mumbles, United Kingdom

We returned here after a beautiful holiday last year. This is a common theme - many guests keep returning here, and it's easy to see why.

Firstly the practical bits - location is perfect - bang on the beach, 20 mins from the airport. Food is excellent, good variety every day and the Greek/Italian cafe bar is fantastic - wood oven pizzas, themed days etc....

Great selection of drinks and cocktails.

However, the best aspect of the hotel is the staff. The hotel is led by Mr Manos, who clearly believes in a positive working environment. The staff are all efficient, friendly, approachable and always have time for you. They all speak highly of their manager, which is unusual in a working environment. The result is an extraordinary experience for us, the paying public. We also organised a beach clean, which I hope will continue long into the future!

I won't bore the reader with mentioning all the names (there really are too many I'd like to thank - you know who you are!), but Helen - what you did for us was special and important as you know.

The most amazing holiday ever

Review by Megan9899

I went to Avra beach in the last 2 weeks of October for 11 days with my boyfriend. We had the most amazing holiday and it was mainly due to the best staff at the hotel, they were all so friendly and made us feel welcome. The food was so good with the lunch in the Greek and Italian restaurants being the best and the homemade pizzas were my favourite...

The cleaners came in our rooms each day to make our beds and clean up the room and they would always greet us with a smile and one day they let me use the iron in their room which was very helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect to get to Rhodes town with the bus being €4 return and it came very frequently, there is also a restaurant across from the hotel called Napoli which was the best food we had all holiday. There is a bar down from the hotel called double deuces which was also a really fun night out. The cocktails in the hotel were really good and they are sweet but I have a sweet tooth so I didn’t mind this, I’ve seen some reviews saying they are watered down but they still managed to get me drunk. The bar staff ended up knowing our order and would start making our drinks before we even asked for them which was nice to know they remembered, Nikos even added rum into one of the cocktails making it much nicer. The entertainment each night was really good with our favourite being the Jersey boys and the Sole Divas and Balu the head of entertainment really put on a good show and would come over and sit and talk to us each night. The only thing I would suggest for improvement for the entertainment is to play music in the area where the stage was to make it more lively before the acts came on. Dani who was also part of the entertainment team really made our holiday as he would sit with us in the evenings and taught us different card games, we would see him throughout the day doing different activities and he was always a friendly face to speak to. Mike who collected our glasses in the evenings was amazing and would always be dancing along to the evening entertainment and would always come over and speak to us. We really enjoyed our holiday and had the best time and we will definitely be back next year mainly due to the staff.

Avra Beach Hotel - Rhodes - 1 * ONLY - TUI should not associate

Review by traceytim_13 Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom

no 4* for sure - our room overlooked run down local housing - the whole site was dangerous beyond belief - wet floors/uneven tiling/flooring/uncleaned pool/pebbled beach/old sun loungers/parasols worth the bin/ food dire/rooms a disgrace/moldy/antiquated furniture and fittings/walls yellow/reception unhelpful unless you were happy to pay for extras like upgrades, which they weren't - has we saw approx 6 rooms. every multiple complainers at reception, staff not forthcoming/understanding. not one guest we spoke to was impressed, happy or would return...

a wasted holiday/money and time. NEVER AGAIN. and to think we booked through TUI advertised as a 4 star. the rep not much help and nowhere to be seen for our last two days. steer clear. avoid like the plague. the first night of our staff was disrupted by guest noise which echoed through the walkway. we were moved, better view, downgraded room, but quieter. this move was only after persistent complaints. and i can assure you all - this was a down graded room. not one room we viewed was acceptable, in one way or another. three different blocks, 2 out of the three were similar to a 1980's Butlin's camp, the facilities/entertainment/food and drink all of poor quality. holiday elsewhere.

Happy days in the sun and sea

Review by Resort08782150758 Aviemore, United Kingdom

Avra Beach was a lovely base for a family holiday. We were in the older part of the building (322) but there was plenty of space for four although we could have done with extra storage space. The bathroom had been modernised and had an excellent shower. There were plenty of food options on site...

My favourite was the Italian and Greek snack bars which served excellent pizzas and a great stifado. All the staff were friendly, helpful and hardworking and especially so in the dining areas. The beach bar and pool-side were great places to hang-out and were spotlessly maintained. The entertainment was on the whole very good with one excellent band in particular. Special thanks to Daniel on the animation team who was always so cheerful and helpful. His daily volleyball sessions were the highlight of the holiday along with trips to Rhodes Town which is a fascinating place. Public buses from opposite the hotel provide cheap and easy links and run late into the night. The tennis court is desperately in need of repair but appreciate this is not a priority during a pandemic. Overall a great base for Rhodes Town and right on the beach - just remember some sea shoes.
