Blue Sky City Beach Hotel

Fantastic hotel in a prime location. Beach opposite and old town 10 mins walk away. With the harbour the same distance. The evenings can get a bit noisy with the roundabout at the front and the bars open till late but you expect that when you book in this sort of location. Especially if you ask for a sea view room but the views are worth a bit of noise. The food was very good with lots of variety. The staff were all very welcoming and so polite. Michalis the manager was very friendly. Nikos who worked the restaurant was brilliant as were all the staff

Just came back from a 5 night stay in this hotel and what an absolute pleasure it was being there. The view from our room was absolutely stunning, got to see beautiful sunsets which glowed from the sea and just the all round atmosphere was great. The staff were amazing, Michalis was so welcoming when we arrived and made us feel special every time he saw us and the restaurant staff who couldn’t have been more helpful Nikos and Lilas especially but all the staff were fantastic. The food was excellent with a great variety every evening. First time in Rhodes and at this hotel and I will definitely be coming back.

To be clear, this isn’t a bad hotel, but there were a number of disappointing aspects.

The good: Sea view was lovely, the room was a decent size, huge variety of food at breakfast & staff were friendly. There was also some evening entertainment for those that like it.

The not so good: Situated on a busy roundabout, we could not sit & enjoy our balcony. The patio doors had to remain closed at all times due to the noise throughout the night.

The twin beds were very low, they scooted across the room when you sat on them & the mattresses would slide off the beds by morning. Both topsheets & duvets were provided, but for some unfathomable reason it was like a game show to work out what housekeeping were going to leave us. From both beds fully equipped with top sheet & duvet, we went to no top sheet to duvet but no duvet cover!

Air con was so ineffectual it wasn’t worth having on & with the us having to keep the balcony door closed due to noise, we melted every night.

Towels were ok on arrival, but replacements during the week became more threadbare & holey each time they were changed. Not that we asked them to be changed. We did try to hang them up as best we could, but there was only 1 small hook, no rails. The opposite was true of the shower mat. We unfortunately had to leave it soaked & screwed up on the floor each morning to be changed in the hope the stinking wet towel would be replaced, as there is only a partial shower screen so the whole bathroom had to be mopped up after every use. Now this, they left unchanged!

Also not sure who thought sliding glass doors to the bathroom was a good idea (especially in a twin room that is more likely to be occupied by friends rather than a couple)!

The pool area was a bit concrete & soulless. It could have been made so much more welcoming with a bit of greenery. Beds were nice, but some back right up to glass panels in the wall that looked right onto the street, which felt very intrusive, as people were constantly walking by. The pool was cold, but actually a welcome relief from the heat after a day of walking, but some may not enjoy it.
