Considering the recent pandemic I think the hotel is trying its hardest. We arrived late with no food available to us or even a drink that was said we would have on arrival. Yes they’re short staffed big time but this maybe because there following government guidance...

The hotel is based on a pebble beach and yes it’s 20 minutes from the airport and you see at least 50+ planes but I ain’t sad enough to count like most people! No bother noise is gone within seconds. It’s clean, friendly had no bother, food is basic not very good if your vegan. The greek restaurant situated around the pool is the best place to eat they do get busy and only have two staff but food is very good. Pool bar closes at 4 which is very annoying especially when the pool closes at 6, you have to walk to the beach to get a drink and the ques are very long! That bar also closes soon as the sun goes down. Ques can get massive for drinks with one person just serving. The most downful about this hotel is the noise I feel like I’m on a club 18-30s holiday the noise from the rooms are awful there so thin and the cleaners shout along the corridors around 6-7am ok if your an early bird but annoying if u want peace! So bring ear defenders if you want peace! Very hard to get clean towels daily, no stock up of the mini bar what so ever, keep your water bottle from the first night top it up yourself as they don’t even give u water. It’s a very derelict location few shops but so quiet just a long sea front and a lot of stuff closed down. Apart from that just appreciate the fact you can still get away.

Relaxing Two Week Break in the Sun

Review by AJGIF

We stayed at the Electra Palace Hotel for the last two weeks in August. There is lots right with the hotel, with a few little niggles, but overall we had a lovely holiday. The hotel is a 15 minute transfer from the airport, so of course you get planes flying low over the hotel...

However this did not disturb us at all. The hotel rooms are fairly basic, but are very clean and have everything you need. Not like you spend loads of time in your room anyway. Food was fine. The buffet was small but we always found something to eat, and the food was always hot. There is also a Greek grill restaurant, and the food there was lovely, and two al a carte restaurants, Italian and Asian. You can book these once a week each for each week if your stay, and the food in these was amazing. The Greek and Italian restaurants are also available without booking for lunch, which means you never get bored with eating the same thing. They have a street food festival once a week, and this was amazing so highly recommend. There is also a coffee/crepe/waffle restaurant which was lovely. Most drinks are included in all inclusive, including many cocktails. The hotel is directly on a pebble beach, so will need to take beach shoes if planning to go into the sea. The slight niggles were mainly to do with queues and slow service. The staff work incredibly hard, in high temperatures, wearing masks and gloves. It did feel that there were not enough staff, but this could be due to Covid restrictions. The buffet gets really busy from 8pm, so we just went about 6.30pm - 7pm and it was fine. If there was a queue at one bar, we just went to a different one with a shorter queue. It was not a major issue, and most of the time we didn’t have to wait longer than 10 minutes. You tend to get offered one drink in the restaurant, both for lunch and dinner, and they don’t tend to come back and offer more (except in the al a carte) but again not a major issue, we just got a drink in the bar when we had finished eating. The entertainment in the evening was low key, but was fine, and we just sat and played cards most nights. Overall we had a lovely time, and if you are looking for a clean, Covid safe hotel, with a short transfer, then I would recommend the Electra Palace.

Extremely LOUD Flight noises

Review by torjac33

This hotel is located in a terribly noisy place

It is located in the direct approach to the nearby Rhodes airport

Passenger planes fly directly over this hotel. Flight radar shows the plane flies 250 meters directly above the hotel and at a speed of 240 km per hours. It's extremely loud

For example

This Saturday, September 4, 2021 it happened 119 times ....

I repeat 119. It has nothing to do with a relaxing holiday

All week the wind was in the same direction it meant over 600 terrible noisy planes

We paid extra to get a sea view and got loud noise from the hotel ac and the approach to the airport. I've never felt so cheated before

I wish other guests had told us this huge problem in advance.

We tried on day 2 to get away from the hotel with the help of our travel company TUI. We where to told that the cost would be 850 euros extra. It was not an option as Electra Palace hotel is already an expensive hotel

So of course we have to complain to TUI now that we have returned home

The noise from the planes ruined our vacation

Milestone Birthday Ruined!

Review by SarahGermany Germany

I want to warn others to save their money and don't be taken in by the fabulous websites showing a luxury experience at a high end hotel. The Electra Palace is not this. We came away for my 50th birthday and it was a huge disappointment...

I am astounded that anyone (Greek tourist board?) saw fit to award such a basic hotel the maximum number of stars and has now deterred me from returning to Greece.

  • rooms - basic, something akin to premier inn level. There is a minibar but it was not replenished once during our 10 day stay and it only had cans of pop and one beer in the first place! There are no individual toiletries, only large bottles that would have been used previously by any number of previous guests. Our first room had no air conditioning and the fridge was broken. We had upgraded to a sea view which we had but directly underneath us was the car park meaning we were woken at the crack of dawn on our first morning. We asked to move but Petra on reception said she had nothing except rooms above the restaurant and I should stay where I was. When I told her that being woken at that hour was unacceptable she just shrugged. Escalating the matter got me a room move but why should I need to? The hotel itself is that of aged grandeur. It may have been smart 20 years ago but it's now showing it's age. The fact that tables full of empty glasses are lying around by the pool and at the bar doesn't help Service - poor. The hotel is vastly understaffed and those who are working are working day and night. If the hotel thought it was wise to fill all the rooms then they should ensure that they are fully staffed. Or is this a cost saving exercise? Certainly I didn't pay for half the service so where does the money go? Every meal time for the buffet there was a queue. To get a drink from the bar there was a queue and it was a minimum of 15 minutes. I did not expect to spent my long awaited break standing in a queue waiting for the food and drink I had purchased in advance! (another cost saving exercise?) I'd be surprised if any of the staff return again for the next season, I'm sure they had to put up with a fair few grumpy guests despite working as fast as they could and wearing heavy winter suits in temperatures of around 38 degrees. Appalling! Other five star hotels I have stayed in, the staff brought my drink to the table or the pool. This never happened outside the restaurant, in fact on some occasions it didn't even happen at the restaurant and I went and got my own from the waiter's station. Food - this was in the main satisfactory. However, in no way does it meet the expectations of a five star. Had I been staying at a three star hotel I would have been happy with the quality of the food. The a la carte restaurants looked the part and I had a particularly delicious looking pork dish served to me in the Italian. However, looks were deceiving and it was cold and dry. The food in the Asian restaurant was too salty and the very angry waiter in the Greek restaurant ruined both our experiences there. There was a really fun food festival but once again the queues were too long so I ate lunch in the buffet. We got so fed up of queuing and I did not come away to eat at a mediocre buffet every night so we ate out quite a lot and also went to the Rainbow bar over the road to get drinks. Entertainment - there are two men that play the same tunes every night for a couple of hours. They are very accomplished but 9 nights of that became tired. The French reps were playing some party games with their guests but that was just an annoyance for the rest of us. There was no legal reason that they hadn't put on any entertainment so I assume they were saving money again. Indeed, I could hear singers etc at other hotels when I sat on my balcony. Evenings at this hotel were pretty dire spent queuing for drinks and not much else. There's not even any English tv in the room. Another reason we left the hotel regularly.

I tried everything I could to leave the hotel and stay elsewhere. After three days we had had enough. Unfortunately having paid for my accommodation in advance I was at the mercy of TUI who were no help at all. I've never spent so much time crying on holiday when I expected this to be a wonderful celebration of my birthday with my family (hotel did nothing to mark the occasion by the way and even asked for 20 euros for a cake!). We wasted a huge amount of money staying here when we'd have all been happier at home - at least we have the tv! So no, I wont be wasting more money to give them another chance (standard hotel response), you've had enough already! I do hope though that this review will prevent others from making the same mistake as my family and I did. This is certainly a birthday I'll never forget although I wish I could.

Lovely staff and great covid safety measures

Review by 173emanh

We spent a week there. Everyone had been really polite and helpful. The food was great especially the creperie, the gyros restaurant and the unforgettable dessert in the Italian restaurant...

MY be not as grand as other hotels but everything was nice and clean which is what matters most to me. I am impressed with the covid safety measures and felt safe all the time. Some members of staff were unforgettable and I’d like to thank them all but the names I caught were Elsa, Seviros, Elvis, Seva, Leufleri. They all worked really hard for very long hours to the extent that I personally couldn’t comprehend how they had the energy to carry in and felt guilty when I asked them for more toward the end of the day. They looked chattered but we’re still smiling and helpful. I cannot understand where all these negative reviews are coming from and neither can my family! It made me doubt myself and questioning whether I had low standards or expectations! I’d been to all inclusive in other places before and visited very posh places like Hawaii, Florida, …. I think people are failing to recognise that staff are tired and not rude and that hotel is not grand but extremely clean. The buffet is not a show offish one but again clean and everything was fresh and light whereas I’d had other experiences in other countries where the buffet was massive and because I cooked myself I could tell it was mostly recycled. This was not the case in Electra palace at all as food was changing everyday and throughout the day and nothing got repeated nor recycled. For the first time I return from an all inclusive having eaten all I wanted and not put in weight at all. Having walked along the beach past other hotels we realised that we made the best choice ever and wouldn’t have wished to stay anywhere else. I recommend renting a car to see the city and going for dinner at Posperi if you are adventurous and will enjoy the local food. Anthony Quinn is great but try st paul beach instead as it was great. The hotel staff are very helpful when you ask for help to arrange these and you can order a picnic pack a night before your trips. Just remember to request or order things like gym slots in advance to avoid disappointment. Thank you to all the staff and managers. We had a great time and I created an account to type this as I couldn’t bear reading those negative reviews after all your hard work. It makes me wonder whether I should go by these reviews in the future! The reviews were great before we left England so we decided to book the hotel but as soon as we returned we found horrible reviews and we cannot understand how that can be when we’d only just been and had a great time. I did spot a couple of angry families during our stay but it sounded that the problems were mainly due to not booking or requested stuff in advance. We made that mistake at some point but instead of getting angry we acknowledged it was our fault and that these rules are why we felt safe firing covid and we just avoided making the same mistakes in the future. One might accuse the gyros restaurant that they are rude but we did not feel that at all. In fact they were working so hard abd their food was delicious. It’s just they were so busy they didn’t have time even to receive your complements. Even the lady in the shop near the pool was verrry polite and friendly and she gave me pegs without taking the money until I went back to the room later that day to get change. I give out holiday 10/10 amidst the covid situation and few very lucky! It was not just a good holiday. It was a great experience with the hospitality we got from Greek people. Thank you!
