Great hotel terrible food

Review by Beverley R Wolverhampton, England, United Kingdom

I always leave honest reviews so here goes Beautiful hotel, but would definitely not rate it a 5 star or even 4 plus as jet2 have it down but maybe a 4* and theses are the reasons It’s quite remote with only one local bar/restaurant over the road and 2 shops area so if you like a mooch around you need to be quite fit as it’s a walk to the nearest village/town. Food …. Well not sure what people have been eating but I would not call it delicious, not much choice and found what was there was either very greasy, cold or bland and couldn’t work out what the themed meals where, lots of fish and more fish, found some nice meat being carved by a member of staff and was given one slice when I requested more was told no that was the limit, salad bar was a joke just a few bowls of salad to choose from could go one but will say soup was the best food in the main restaurant. I think the chef cooking eggs in the morning needs trading as to how to cook an egg, everyone we had was either over cooked or under cooked Had a meal in the Asian restaurant and that was nice but you don’t get a lot we ended up eating out not what you want when you pay all inclusive. Rooms are clean but lacking a chest of draws as not enough storage expecially if you have children maybe remove the luggage rack and put one there. Beds and pillows were amazing and very comfortable. Pool area was lovely with plenty of beds and the little shop on site is great, street food day was very good and the food was very good. Entertainment was ok and the staff worked to get people involved and hotel and barstaff were also very good and polite. If you like a rural hotel this maybe for you for me the food let it down

The 'Exceptional' Electra Palace Rhodes.

Review by TOONIST Leicester, United Kingdom

Our second holiday at this hotel. Pre Pandemic and now Post Pandemic. Perfectly located in a very rural part of the island, it was great to see that the little Greek homesteads, chickens and tranquilty hasn't changed a bit...

It's almost as if time has stood still. No fish and chip shops or fast food outlets. However, the Electra Palace HAS changed. Believe it or not.....for the better! Exceptional staff and hospitality. Exceptional food and drinks. My wife says that the head chef and his team must be magicians? All kinds of food to tempt the most discerning palate. Speciality restaurants. The old saying "I've died and gone to heaven!" springs to mind. I should know. I'm there right now. Sitting in glorious sunshine drinking ice cold wine looking at the magnificent blue sea. There must be a God?

Excellent stay

Review by pauline s London, United Kingdom

I spent a week at the Electra Palace . Staff are profession polite and helpful. My room I could see the pool and entertainment area and there was not any noise best sleep I have had in any hotel. The food absolutely lovely in the buffet restaurant and I visited the Italian restaurant & also the Asian fusion perfect. Cocktails I love the tropical sangria and the Asian mule. I swam in the outdoor pool most days really nice.

Stayed due to EasyJet cancelled flight on Easter 2022

Review by erinisfunky Brighton, United Kingdom

Dear Electra Palace staff, Thank you for taking care of me and my son at 5am on Easter Monday morning by quickly giving us a comfortable room when we arrived weary from the airport. I know that we didn't choose to stay at your hotel, but you made a difficult night much easier. Your staff were ready for us when our coach arrived from the airport and quickly checked us in when we were so tired and frustrated we could barely speak...

The hotel property was a lovely and unexpected pleasure to spend some of our holiday. Having discovered your hotel under these unusual circumstances we were then sad to say goodbye to your nice hotel. We hope you have a successful summer season ahead and we hope maybe to come back again one day. Erin O'Connor & Malcolm Rubin (EasyJet flight cancellation guests)

Disappointed 😞

We have visited this hotel twice in 2016 and 2018 and both times it was fantastic, we had planned to come here in 2020 but the pandemic stopped this....so we finally got here this year, it states in the hotels webpage that vaccination proof etc will be needed on check in we was never asked for this, on checking in the member of staff was behind a plastic screen and also wearing a face covering which meant we could not understand a word she was saying plus the fact live music was being played at a loud volume around 20 yards away made check in difficult,

On arriving at our room which was in the amex building it was a ground floor room with no view expect that of the rear of the poolside restaurant, garden area and sports pitches, it was clean however during our stay the housekeeping was not the best and the floor was only mopped once, and when it was it was absolutely soaked and took over 3 hours to dry.

The range of food on site is varied however the menus at the onsite al a carte restaurants is very limited, the main buffet dining room had a varied selection however it makes no sense making guests wear face coverings when getting their food then sitting them less than 2 feet away from each other and removing them, the face covering rules need to be removed as we where not the only ones to complain about it.

The "show cooking" was at best very basic and amateur, the omelettes at breakfast where dreadful and I make better at home with actual eggs and not the powder mix that was used here.

The drinks are standard all inclusive quality, far too much Ice used and cheap mixers, the local beer served was always flat and in my opinion the pumps and pipes need to be cleaned or replaced.

The level of communication and advertising for events at the hotel is poor, a street food event was held whilst we was there and nobody said anything about it being included in the all inclusive package, no animation team on site until 3 days before we left, no evening entertainment other than a saxophone and guitar player, playing the same thing every night.

The only plus points here are the pool area, the pizzas and pastas in the onsite Italian (lunch menu), the poolside mini mart and the rainbow bar outside the hotel entrance.

After waiting over 2 years for a holiday we are not sad to be going home and I do not think we will be returning.
