Ta Cenc Hotel and Spa is an island paradise within an island paradise. Set amongst 400 acres of beautiful grounds on the island of Gozo, Ta Cenc Hotel and Spa occupies its own private realm looking down over Gozo and across to Malta and Comino.
Built in keeping with the traditional local style, Ta Cenc Hotel and Spa is unlike any other hotel in Gozo or Malta. It is designed for your complete and utter relaxation; five star luxury is a way of life here.
Built on Gozo's highest point, the Ta Cenc Hotel and Spa affords unparalleled views. From this vantage point, you really do feel unencumbered by life's day-to-day worries. All that matters is the clean air, the astonishing landscape and the soothing rays of the sun. Peace and tranquillity reign. If ever a holiday could offer a transcendent experience, this is it.
In keeping with the local style, Ta Cenc Hotel and Spa is tastefully furnished – with lots of real wood and local stone, reinforcing that feeling of being at one with nature. Guest rooms are tastefully appointed, but come with all the modern facilities you'd expect, including cable TV, radio, telephone, minibar / fridge and cooling system. You will also enjoy your own private terrace or garden – just ask for more details.
For many, the spa itself will be the main attraction. In its indoor and outdoor heated pools, its sauna and steam bath, you can luxuriate in peace and quiet and savour each moment. To ensure every single care is lifted off your shoulders, the wellness centre also offers a Jacuzzi and massage service. (While those looking to get sporty can enjoy the gym and tennis courts.)
With all of Gozo stretched out below you, there is so much to experience and enjoy. But you may find that a week isn't even long enough to fully enjoy the Ta Cenc Hotel and its own surroundings, let alone Gozo. Still, with a superb hotel restaurant and extensive entertainment facilities, there isn't really any necessity to leave the hotel if you don't want to.
Visitors to the Ta Cenc Hotel and Spa enjoy a particularly special kind of holiday ambience and a unique sense of tranquillity that is very hard to resist.
Ta' Cenc, an island within an island for those who are looking for that special holiday of complete tranquillity and relaxation.
Built on Gozo's highest point, overlooking majestic cliffs and affording a magnificent view across to the islands of Malta and Comino, it is set in 400 acres of grounds. This very different hotel is built in local style so that it blends in with the surrounding landscape. The whole setting is one of remoteness at peace with nature.
This is one of our favourite hotels. We have come to love the little chalet-type accommodation with a private terrace for quite drinks/reading etc. The air con works independently from the electricity supply by room card so this is a real bonus...
The reception is efficient and welcoming. Keep hold of your welcome drink glass from when you check in as the tumbler in the room is a bit small for in room/on terrace drinkies There is a fridge but only one bottle of free water supplied. Not a silly idea to take your own but decant into the free one provided from a larger bottle as they do not fit in the fridge! The bathrooms are brand new and up together.
Because of Covid they are offering a no cleaning service - frankly I think this is part of the hotel experience and they wear gloves. The room cleaning is exceptionally good. Oddly you have to collect the tea and coffee room stuff from reception as there is nothing at all in the rooms due to Covid.
If you like cats take a box of dried cat food and a throw away container, They will make friend with you for the life of your stay. I confess I also took a few chipolatas from home to put in the fridge! If you don't like cats they will pretty much ignore you, but I find it charming to see the same family there year on year. The adult only pool is a joy for those of us who have done our bit for humanity by yelling at our kids to stop running and annoying oldies like the one I have now become!
The kids pool is a really nice facility for families and a large pool and I suspect they tend to put the families in that area.
The spa is a joy but be warned you have to book slots at the moment. Unfortunately, this is not policed from jumping, diving and ball playing like it used to be, but after 1pm the kids are not allowed. I was also horrified to see a child with a glass in the pool but to be fair nothing did break or was left behind. Note to Ta cenc management here. The 9.30 slot is good because the sun is not on the pool.
This is definitely a quiet hotel, so evening bar activity is not very evident. Even we, now watch Netflix with a bottle of wine on our terrace. The WiFi in the room can be a bit dodgy but you might be lucky as we were every night except one. There is tv in the room but a limited choice.
The booking situation is a bit variable. I booked through their website as I thought they would benefit from not sharing the spoils, but this was problematic with the card payment as my credit card was not happy to accept the hotel payment without the CV number or a pin in my absence. So, this last visit was booked through a well known site and we had no such problems. They take a 50 euro a day pre authorisation so be prepared for that too. Prices do vary so do look around but breakfast is always worth taking.
Check out is not until noon and they will store your case for you if you want to use the hotel facilities. However, we take our own towels to use on the last day as we live locally. So, have a great stay!
To start off with I must highly praise the staff who were super friendly and helpful at all times, very professional indeed. The food was great at all times too. HOWEVER SADLY , I have to say these next things , mostly at these times for the sake of all the Maltese and Gozitans who like me usually travel a lot , and in these difficult times were planning to spend their money in local places like this to support the local market. When paying more than Euro200 per night I was never expecting To find the following after walking through a beautiful lobby and lounge bar ,amazingly lately restyled by the highly talented Pippa Toledo The plants, tress and grounds were in such neglect that a lot of the plants were dead Outside flooring in certain places fasat deteriorating A filthy side of the adult pool , and 2 days out of 4 pool was full of oil on the surface Broken sunbeds and umbrellas in many places for all to see Airconditioning in the room just makes noise Was given a bathrobe that seemed eaten by rats (unbelievable) Some of the furniture in the room nowhere near 5 star standard No where in a huge wardrobe to hang long items Anyways please find photos in my review of this stay which were needless to say very upsetting , when one is paying such prices and goes to places like these to relax. Would have loved to go again and again this summer , but of course sadly I will need to look for something a lot better :)
Found from other reviewers ...its everything everyone says it is....great location..great service..quirky bungalow rooms...2 large unheated outdoor pools...excellent wellness spa and pool heated to 35 degrees..
Food is VERY good and large portions both outside at lunch or dinner....wine is VERY acceptable and reasonably priced.
Gozo is small so with a car you can see everything easily...it was very quiet when we stayed.
The only negative is that they allow glasses and bottles in the pool area internal and external...this shouldn't be allowed and is dangerous....management please use plastic.
On the isle of Gozo you step back in time about 20-years. Hotel Ta' Cenc is the epitome of that gentler era of travel. The property is exceptional, the service is the best, and dining is a lovely, slow experience featuring only the freshest seasonal ingredients for Maltese and Mediterranean dishes. The beautiful hotel is in the middle of over 200-acres of a nature and historic preserve...
Curated walkin trails lead you through ancient temples, burial sights, and farms. You can lounge about in one of three pools, take spa treatments, or hang out on your private patio. The grounds are lushly landscaped and crisscrossed with paths and
I spent three nights here with Family. We had a great time It is a really well designed place with great pools and friendly staff. The room was clean and comfortable...
There food is average and waiters are nice. But service is bad. I had 3 breakfasts there and they got may order wrong everyday. They need a lesson on cooking eggs. Other meals were tasty but uninspiring. A little exta effort and it could be amazing. Also they are still pretending that packaging olive oil, ketchup, salt, pepper ect in tinny take out packets is ok. When really it is a basic thing that could be solved to avoid a whole lot of waste not to mention beauty on the table.
Also they charge for drinking water in plastic bottles. If you are paying 100’s of euro per night I would expect some free water. Serving it in glass rather than plastic would also be great. Destroying the future with plastic bottles that end up in the ocean is really not acceptable for a hotel.
