Top class hotel. No complaints.Breakfast was the best ive ever seen.Spotless and rooms large and well sericed.Walk up from beach quite exhausting in the heat due to the hill but can always get a bolt taxi.Highly reccommend the spa attached to hotel.Freddy in the piano bar very entertaining and a very enjoyable week.
We’ve just come back from a weeks holiday in Malta, and I am so pleased we decided to stay at the Maritim Antonine. The hotel was awesome from start to finish and there was not one aspect we weren’t really happy with.
The rooms are modern and clean, along with all of the communal areas. Both of the pools were great (we particularly liked the rooftop pool) and the food/drinks are fantastic.
I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to Mellieha. It’s in a great position close to restaurants and just a short walk into Mellieha Bay.
The hotel itself is nice, the room is comfortable, and the location is convenient. Unfortunately, the customer service was a huge disappointment and completely overshadowed the positive aspects of our stay.
On our departure day, we had an early morning flight and had to leave before and breakfast started at 7:00 a.m. I later realized that the welcome letter mentioned that takeaway breakfast requests had to be made before noon on the previous day. I admit that I overlooked this information, so I understand why the hotel was unable to prepare a takeaway breakfast at such short notice.
However, what I could not understand was the complete lack of flexibility afterwards.
When I asked whether the breakfast could be refunded since we would not be able to use it, the answer was simply “no.” I then suggested that, if the staff could not prepare a takeaway breakfast, they could at least provide an empty takeaway box so that we could pack a few breakfast items ourselves before leaving. Once again, the answer was “no,” with no attempt to offer any alternative solution.
I was not asking for special treatment. I was simply hoping for a practical and customer-friendly solution. Providing an empty takeaway box would have cost the hotel almost nothing, while allowing guests to enjoy a breakfast they had already paid for.
What disappointed me most was not the hotel’s policy, but the attitude. There was no willingness to help, no flexibility, and no sense of customer care.
For a four-star hotel, I expected much better service. Good facilities are important, but genuine hospitality is what guests remember. Unfortunately, this experience left a negative impression that outweighed the otherwise pleasant stay.
We arrived at Maritim Antonine Hotel for our 20th wedding anniversary to be told the luxury suite we'd booked was not available due to 'maintenance'. We were placed in a vastly inferior room for that day/night in the annex, which is a separate building. The room was small, dark & hugely inferior to the luxury room we'd paid for. This goes against standard industry good practice, which states if the room is not available you should be placed in a room equal or above the booked standard. The receptionist seemed surprised we were not happy about this news. Nobody could tell us what maintenance was being performed in our booked room. Nor why we could not move into our room that night as presumably the maintenance person had to leave that evening. In fact, we were told we could not move into the new room until after it had bedding changed/cleaning the next morning so unless the maintenance person was sleeping in the room it seems obvious that the hotel had overbooked to maximise profits at the expense of paying guests. I thought booking through big operator Jet2 would protect us against overbooking by hotels - clearly not. We couldn't unpack and relax as we didn't know whether or not to believe that we would be moved into our booked room the following day. So we had a rubbish start to this big celebration holiday, effectively losing the first day. The hotel treated us poorly and with disdain - they said they would offer us a meal as compensation, which I thought would be a nice gesture even though not commensurate to the stress caused/disparity in rooms. The hotel has two nice restaurants. But we were not offered a meal in either one - instead we got a £16 buffet voucher - which was frankly insulting & we did not use it. But it did tell us how much this hotel values its paying guests. Be prepared to trek up and down a very steep hill for 20 minutes each way to get to the beach as the shuttle bus was not running & no alternatives were offered by this supposedly 4-star hotel. The beach has a dual carriageway very busy road running behind it so is not exactly an oasis of tranquility, either.
Stayed for a week 8-15th June 2026 (for the second time) and we could not fault it. Location, building, staff, food/drinks, spa facilities, pool all fantastic. This was our second stay here and we’ll absolutely be back for a third. Brilliant and highly recommend!
