Not a 4 star

Review by 664marthak Exhall, United Kingdom

Pergola is a nice hotel with a good location in the village centre. Easy access to restaurants shops and a short bus to the beach (unless you want to attempt the walk up and down the very steep hill in the heat!).

We never used the pool as we prefer the beach but it was a nice area with bar and food available...

Lovely views as well!

Food is what really lets this place down. It’s just awful! I struggled to each anything but a yoghurt for breakfast. They have fruit but it’s covered and I mean covered in flies. No other sweet options other than dry cakes and occasional cold small soft croissants. My husband ate the sausages and eggs but they weren’t great either! For dinner it’s luke warm dinners with meat that was obviously the roast option from the day before. I think we maybe had 1 or 2 actually edible meals. We went out for 2 nights cuz we just couldn’t stand the ‘slop’ as we named it!

Room was fine, it was clean but not very spacious.

I’ve given 3 stars as the price is very reasonable but it’s definitely not a 4 star hotel. Big improvements needed on food.

Pergola Hotel and Spa

Booked a trip to Malta and stayed at the Pergola Hotel and Spa. If you've never been before they have a nifty system at the airport whereby you book a taxi directly from the booth, pay for it there and get transported to your destination. Our hotel was 50 min away, fortunately the Stig took us so it only took half an hour. Cost €30. The hotel staff were friendly and keen to help. Its in a lovely location and its affordable in terms of hotel prices regarding drinks and food etc. The down side was that the spa was under renovation and could not use that or the gym...

But was offered a nearby alternative.. The cocktails are not that great so some bar staff training may be required. But none the less the service was good. The swimming pool is more designed to rehabilitate Arctic creatures as it was freezing. I would return to this hotel however. Its clean and tidy and rooms serviced daily .

Pergola hotel

Review by barrie t Swansea, United Kingdom

We recently stayed at the Pergola hotel and spa in Melleiha where the staff were excellent and the hotel was very clean which made our stay all the more enjoyable, A special mention must go out to Doreen in the restaurant for all her hard work in looking after us and Ekaterina on reception. The only disappointment was the indoor pool and jacuzzi were not warm enough to enjoy.

Pergola Stay in Malta

Review by Herbert C Paoli, United States

We were debating if we should visit Malta during the pandemic. We were glad we did. The November weather was very pleasant, and the temperature floated around 60 to 70F...

Some local shower for a brief period of time was never a bother. The seafood market on Sunday by Marsaxlokk was a treasure, with many vendors offering authentic local pastries and fresh catches. People are very friendly and helpful. They appear to enjoy their pace of life. We tried to drive on the left and succeeded. We also tried numerous times using the public bus and Uber offset "Bolt" with ease. We took the ferries to Gozo and Comino. The value of the ferry rides were more than our expectations, especially the trip to Comino with detours to many caves included. We may visit the place again in the future.
