TripAdvisor Review
Some good, some not so good!

We are here on our last night having been here for a week.

The good:-

The resort is clean, well looked after and the staff are very attentive.

We had two rooms. Both were cleaned regularly and had everything we needed in them, no complaints at all about the rooms.

The food is pretty good. Nice variation. We ate at x3 specialty restaurants - the Chinese, Brazilian and Lebanese. All ok - the Brazilian was the best by some distance,

The pools are nice and warm and always plenty of sun beds all throughout the day.

The beach is fantastic and that’s where we spent more of our time. Warm sea, waist high and not over crowded. Use the crossing to cross the road rather than play chicken run and you are good to go!

WiFi coverage is excellent everywhere. Really good

The not so good:-

The air conditioning is poor throughout the resort leaving very little respite from the heat. The indoor entrainment dome is like a sauna. The indoor bar is like a sauna. The coolest place is the entrance foyer!

Check in was chaos. No rooms seem to be ready before 3pm so you turn up and dump your cases - you can use the facilities but can’t settle in your room until after 3pm. After a long flight you just want to get changed and chill in your lovely new room for abit; but that isn’t possible.

The check in staff are helpful and friendly though.

The cup / token system is a nonsense. If you don’t have your token on you then you can’t get a drink. The very very easy workaround is to bring your own cup and they will happily fill that up for you without a token. There is Starbucks 5 mins up the road and we bought mugs from there to use for the week,

Overall I’d say that this is a 4 star resort but the air conditioning in public areas needs a massive re-think !!

TripAdvisor Review
A great stay!

We had a great stay at DB Seabank. On arrival we noticed that the hotel & our room was very clean and modern (judging by reviews, I think some rooms are newer than others) and Rosemary our room attendant always did a fantastic job of refreshing our room. There was always plenty of choice with food and always somewhere to eat no matter what time of day. We ate at 2 of the themed restaurants and enjoyed these. We only used the adults only pool and there were plenty of sun loungers there so no need for reserving beds early in the morning. Loved the swim up bar, it was great to chill in the pool with our drinks. It was easy to get the bus to different places from just outside of the hotel - we went to St Paul’s bay & Valletta. The only negative thing and it is only something very minor…if you have long or thick hair, maybe take a hairdryer as it took me sooo long to dry my hair due to the dryer being useless. Not sure if they are the same in every room, but it was like a hoover nozzle and had very little power! Overall a really nice hotel with lots to do! Would definitely recommend

TripAdvisor Review
Overall a pleasant experience but would not give it a 4*

We stayed for 7 nights and really enjoyed my stay but I’m not sad to be leaving.

To start with the all inclusive is okay. Really nice food as long as you like that style of food. There are different themes each night but the food was very similar with a variety of different things. There are different restaurants to go to which were really nice. The drinks were all really nice and plenty of selection all around. Only slight con with the drinks is I found the token system really inconvenient especially when at times it was hot and you needed a drink but didn’t have a token on you.

They let the locals in during the weekends as day passes and it gets really busy, especially on Sundays where there was a queue to the main restaurant and the other restaurant was very busy at lunchtimes.

The location is brilliant with a lovely beach right outside with amazing boat trips. There is a bus stop right outside giving an easy access to transport. I would highly recommend a trip to mdina which was a really nice historical place. Visiting it in evening is much better as it would be really hot during the day.

We arrived in a middle of a heatwave. The temperature being 38 degrees but felt like 41. Being those temperatures you would want and expect a really cool building. However this was not the case. We arrived in reception with a long queue and reception not being cool. The room aircon units were not cold or blew out a lot of air. The dining areas were not cool when trying to eat which also made this uncomfortable to eat. The dome at night where the shows were held was also really warm with air-con being rubbish. We noticed the air-con wasn’t on one of the nights so we asked a member of staff and we had a rude response of it apparently being broken.

The pool was very big but could get slightly overcrowded at times but overall really good with lots of activities throughout the day for both kids and adults! Plenty of sun loungers and places to sit, you definitely do not need to reserve sun beds very early in the morning.

Overall the cleanliness of the hotel was really good and up to standard. The rooms and the hotel on a whole are really nice. Some areas slightly outdated but not really anything major. We had a lovely sea view balcony with 2 sun loungers and chairs. Only negative we had a 3 person room, the double bed was massive and perfect however, the second bed, which was a chair pull out bed was not very comfortable.

TripAdvisor Review
Disappointing... Not the 4* we thought we were getting

On arrival, we were given a 2nd floor family room which was ground level with the road adjacent on the other side, didn't make us feel safe having our two kids with us, we requested a room change and it was arranged for next day which was great and understanding of them. We got a room exactly of same standard we expected, very roomy, 1 large cupboard with space for hanging and one with lots of shelves. The first room had a bath with shower over it, when we moved we had a walk in shower which personally suited us better.

The room was very clean, and the cleaners were in lots during our two week stay.

Our Aircon broke one night, this was resolved the next day although I did have to chase them up on it. Aircon isn't amazing though I believe it's economic for the hotel. It doesn't have a temperature on it, just blue for cold and red for warm.

We paid the extra for AI+, which for our family was worth every penny. The AI+ area is up further end of the hotel, a quieter vibe to relax and you can order breakfast to be cooked fresh for you which was lovely. The selection of branded drinks was great and being able to take cans of sprite and cola or cartons of pineapple and orange was great for our kids. They make cocktails in AI+ area in proper chilled glasses and the service in this area was brilliant. After breakfast there was some nibble food available which was good too, not huge selection but was fresh. They put on a VIP dinner here on a Friday which was a new thing, the first week we left early as the service for food was so slow. We gave them feedback and on the 2nd Friday for the VIP meal it was much faster service. Both nights the food was really nice that was on offer.

The main buffet restaurant is small in comparison to previous All Inclusive we have went to and we personally found the selections of foods available rather limited, repetitive and quite disappointing! We always managed to find at least something to eat at every meal time. On a Sunday they have Sunday lunch passes and the spread out on is much better, if only they would do that for every meal time I do think it would be better. There was an area no longer used which looked like it might have previously been a salad bar, which may have helped. There are far too many Sunday lunch passes and we had encountered people who had been refused entry to the Sunday lunch sitting as it was full, mainly from day guests.

From the other bookable restaurants we went to the Chinese, which was very poor selection and not tasty. Rodizo, this was decent, they don't come round the tables like a normal rodizo and only about 3 meats available. BBQ on terrace, nothing startling at all. We booked Salia twice, it was lovely! Proper meal here and the portions were huge and so tasty! As we had paid for AI+ we had full option of the entire menu and cocktails. Normal AI don't have this and it would be a sharing menu. We didn't manage to get booked into any of the other restaurants.

We stayed during the heatwave and it was roasting... The pools didn't give much relief from the heat as they warmed up too. So it felt like a massive hot tub, nothing the hotel can do about that though. The areas around the pool were kept clean and the €2 for a cup clearly made this happen. The bees would be near open sweet drinks, or any spillages. They didn't ruin our holiday but they do look like wasps compared to our bees back home in UK so I can understand which a lot of people would be scared. My son got stung on the lip when he drank out a drink without realising a bee had decided to have a drink too. The indoor pool was a nice break from the outside one!

The pool day passes were highly off-putting! The amount the hotel let in is disgusting considering it's probably at capacity for hotel guests. The day passes are local Maltese who came in hoards. This really put a damper on our holiday in general. We felt less secure with the kids due to it being open to whoever unlike other hotels we have been to that have security to get in and out. The day passes were also ridiculously rude. Would take over the pool area, didn't care if they were in your way, and would take over the restaurants at late breakfast sitting and lunch. No manners at all. I complained to both Jet2 and the hotel about this, not sure it would have much impact though as it brings in the hotel a lot of money.

The animation team were all lovely! We took part in both kids or adults activities and really enjoyed them. The kids club, my kids found boring as it didn't have anything on during the two hours apart from being air con room with cartoons and comfy bean bags.

We didn't use the spa or gym so can't comment on them.

However, we loved Malta and would go back, just not to this hotel!

Great hotel

We had a lovely time at this hotel. It is very clean. Malta 🇲🇹 in a whole is a very clean place. Food was lovely. We tried the Bbq restaurant. The one thing that let's this restaurant down is the amount of flies on the buffet. With a bit of thought this could be prevented. All the other restaurants were great. Food fresh always. Lots of choice. The entertainment staff were brilliant and funny and the shows were enjoyable. They have their own song with a little dance that started the day that we all enjoyed. Staff all over the hotel were brilliant. From the room service, bar staff, reception and the restaurant staff. I would come back to this hotel.
