Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Staff are so so rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. Cleaners entered our room even though we had the do not enter sign on our door, they stole some clothes and my pair of designer sunglasses, reception staff refused to help or anything just said we had to fill out a police report which was had no option of English. There was a private party on the top floor and going on until 2/3am and you could hear it so clearly from your room felt like you were there too. On the 3rd time we went to reception to complain about the noise there was a Que of people doing so and they still did nothing. The rooftop pool looks beautiful in photos but the loungers are so squished together and it’s hard to move as they are tiring to cram so many people in. There were so many other issues but I would be here all day. Avoid avoid avoid.
we are a group of 6 middle aged women one of whom had just undergone hip surgety so was using a crutch and we booked this hotel as part of an Easyjet package holiday whi h included flights and hotel transfers. we were looking for a calm relaxed getaway with a comfortable and well equipped hotel but little did we know that Hugos boutique hotel is situated in the rave mecca for the under 25’s in Malta seeking loud non descript techno music in the streets until 4am every night so if its tranquility you are looling for do not book this hotel. tje transfer dropped us at the wrong hotel but thats the sister hotel down 50 very steep steps and is where bteakfast and the spa is situated not a task u want to tackle after hip surgery they did move us thrre but we lost a whole day of our 4 night stay then waiting for our rooms there to be ready at 4pm. they charge €100 per person ‘deposit’ a factor Easyjet had ommitted to tell us and the refund of that money takes a full 31 days to return to your bank card the weather was hot but the rooftop bar and pool were shut even though all the neighbouring hotels had theirs open i will not return to this hotel chain nor reccommend it
Such a beautiful hotel, bar downstairs was bouncing( only at weekends as right next to club scene) has the pizza place bar and few other hugo places within walking distance, cocktails at the bar in hotel were stunning.. room itself was class, fancy modern tech for curtains, lights,tv,air con, massive room, comfy bed and a amazing waterfall shower.. stunning.. you get dropped off on street below as no bus access to the door, wasn't a problem for us but quite a few stairs to climb, next to beach, shops and bars, great location right in the heart of St julians.. breakfast included every morning was delicious 😋 also in other hotel next to boutique hotel,2 min walk.. we went to the pool with all the amenities, was brilliant, 👌
Avoid if you value sleep!
My wife, myself and a group of 9 friends had a very uncomfortable stay at Hugo Boutique Hotel.
The hotel is located in Paceville, an area packed wall-to-wall with nightclubs and bars blasting loud music until around 4am every night, followed immediately by noisy rubbish collection until about 5am. Sleep was virtually impossible. The hotel’s response was that there was nothing they could do because the noise came from surrounding establishments. However, on the Friday night, the hotel itself hosted a rooftop party until 4am — boom, boom, boom straight through the night. If you stay here, bring industrial-strength earplugs.
Breakfast was served in the sister hotel, H Hotel, next door. Unfortunately, the connecting bridge between the two hotels did not open until 9:30am because, we were told, there were no staff available to open it earlier. This meant having to leave the hotel, walk down slippery steep steps and through streets that were being hosed down with soapy water to clean up the previous night’s litter. In wet weather this could easily become dangerous.
The breakfast itself offered a good selection of cold meats, cheeses, fruit, salads, fresh bread and made-to-order omelettes, which were all enjoyable. Sadly, the hot buffet was anything but hot — most items were cold or barely warm. Even the coffee from the machines was lukewarm unless you specifically requested a hot coffee from staff.
The rooms were spacious and reasonably comfortable, and the staff were generally friendly and helpful. However, the windows were filthy, and the shower temperature constantly fluctuated from cold to dangerously hot. The bathroom was separated from the bedroom by a transparent glass wall, and the mirrored ceiling added to the unusual atmosphere. We were told locals refer to it as “The Sex Hotel,” which probably says it all. Even the men’s urinals in the public toilets off the bar were shaped like a woman’s open mouth.
Definitely not somewhere we would return to.
We had a fantastic time we celebrated our anniversary there and the staff are very friendly, professional and cannot do enough for you I must say the breakfast is amazing with plenty of choice we had a suite with a hot tub in the room and it was perfect. We stayed 3 nights, location is good with plenty of restaurants and bars
