Honest and frank review from Juliani Hotel, Booked the room online which came with free taxi from the airport to hotel plus a couple of days before we travelled they asked it we wanted to upgrade to a room with bay view which we did for a price of £280 , Taxi driver was waiting on arrival but unfortunately the car they sent had a really small boot so really struggled to get 2 suitcases in the boot don’t know how he didn’t manage to damage them, Smooth check in and room smaller than I anticipated but view of the bay was good, Went to the rooftop pool but disappointed with what I saw, Not 1 umbrella available but they had 3 seated huts which more often than not had a person laid across them from 08:30am in the morning, The Sunbed’s were the most uncomfortable I’ve ever experienced as all they was was steel frame with a mesh covering you couldn’t lay on your stomach as it would hurt your rib cage and laid on your back not much better, Spoke to the manager explained the situation and asked him if they had any mattresses to lie on he told me he would raise the question but never did no good if you’ve a bad back or hips, Happy hour was from 6pm till 8pm the cocktails were good value but the area you sat in was open plan with just views of the local busses on both sides of the road, Breakfast was quite good they have decent choice but same every day, We ate in 3 different places in St Julians Bay the Irish bar The Dubliner, Barracuda and The Avenue, All 3 were very nice but the Avenue was top draw but I recommend you book online in the summer season especially at weekends, Went to the War rooms in Valletta which was great if you struggle with hills there is a bus from the ferry to take you there , Also visited the Manchester United Supporters Club in Mdisa which was about 9 euro taxi ride from St Julians it’s in between Sliema and Valletta, Great club has a Munich museuem as well there was people with City, Leeds and Liverpool tops in there not just United lots to see it’s open out of season 6:30 pm till 8:30pm on a Friday plus 11:30 am till 1:30pm on a Sunday obviously when United are playing the club will be open, For me the hotel was overpriced I paid over £235 per night for a room which for me and the things I’ve outlined not value for money,
Lovely boutique hotel in the heart of St Julian. Our room was cute and very clean...Wonderful staff, so attentive, greet you every time...excellent breakfast. Rooftop terrace with pool and bar, jazz in the background...just what the Dr ordered. Had a fabulous time, lots of places close by to eat and drink. Will be going back next year!
Hotel selected for us by Kuoni through their agent Kirker, last stop in a Malta - Gozo -Malta trip. Boutique hotel, next to the noisy and vibrant Paceville area and excellently located for easy access to bars, restaurants, and supermarkets. Superb view across to Spinola Bay and St Julian's Bay beyond that. Seamless courteous check-in with room ready for immediate occupation. Had upgraded to sea view room which was well worth the slight extra expense. 8th Floor room with balcony, chairs and table meant that the morning sunshine poured into the room and enabled an early coffee/tea on the balcony watching the world go by before a leisurely breakfast. Also great to sit out in the late evening watching boats come and go. Noise levels were not intrusive and, with patio/balcony door closed during the night you could not hear anything from the street below or nearby. Room well equipped, effective A/C with coffee/tea making facilities, walk in shower cubicle with toiletries provides and plenty of towels etc. We stayed bed and breakfast with self-service continental and cooked breakfast options - it was possible to order additional items to be cooked fresh - fried, boiled eggs, omelette etc. This meant that there was more than enough choice to be able to start your day well. Good value for money here. The hotel was very clean, room service daily meant that we were very comfortable and felt well looked after. Hotel offered a spa with treatments and the rooftop pool was a decent size with bar service for food and drinks. Excellent place to swim, read or just enjoy a cocktail and the view. Service from all the staff throughout the hotel was superb, friendly, professional and welcoming, providing recommendations - thanks Emilio - for good places to eat (Toro Toro, Little Argentina and Hammett's Mestizo for example.) Hotel also provides direct access to Zest, a pan-Asian fusion restaurant with a superb selection of Asian food and well worth a visit, as we did! Hotel offers guests a 10% discount when visiting the restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here having experienced a range of hotels and locations as part of our visit to Malta and Gozo.
We had an amazing stay at Hotel Juliani, one we won't forget! The staff are so professional, friendly and welcoming. The cleaning staff are truly exceptional with their attention to detail! The beds are extremely comfortable and breakfast had a great selection! The sliding door onto the balcony was relatively soundproof with minimal disruption from the streets below even during the World Cup! The plunge pool was quite refreshing with plenty of loungers and shaded/padded areas. 10/10 would definitely recommend!
