Radisson Blu Resort St Julians

TripAdvisor Review
Malta and Gozo, Europe
St Julians

One of the many things that draws people to Malta is the beautiful views – and that's one of the hallmarks of the Radisson Blu Resort St Julian's. Take a look out of any window and you'll see the wide open expanse of the Mediterranean. Panoramic views take in St Julian's too and give a real sense of space and freedom.

One of the major draws is of course the water – not just the sea itself, but the indoor and outdoor pools that fill the resorts. No wonder then that the Radisson Blu Resort St Julian's is so very popular – not only is there easy access to the seashore, but it boasts three stunning outdoor pools (two at the water's edge), as well as a heated indoor pool. Add to that a diving centre and there's plenty here to keep water babies happy.

Relish the wide open views and endless seascapes from the Radisson Blu Resort St Julian's:

'Immaculate' sums up the Radisson Blu Resort St Julian's. Approaching the hotel for the first time you'll be impressed by its perfect frontage and impeccable reception area; its two restaurants and choice of lounges. Your room will continue the same high quality – wood panelled floors, rich furnishings and those spectacular views to Gozo in the north all help to remind you that this is a five star hotel in every respect.

As well as lapping up the view, you'll be able to log on to the internet courtesy of the Radisson Blu Resort St Julian's; you'll also enjoy TV with movie channels and lots of other amenities. Oh, and ensuring your supreme comfort whenever you visit, the hotel is air conditioned in the summer and centrally heated in the winter.

Check out the leisure centre and you'll discover an indoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and supervised gym. The Radisson Blu Resort St Julian's Marion Mizzi Spa offers a full range of treatments and it's a 'must visit'. It also features a hair salon and beauty parlour.

The right hotel will significantly enhance your holiday experience. So if you're looking for a hotel that is as much a feature of your holiday as the sea, the sun and the Maltese island lifestyle; a hotel that will keep you in wonderful luxury, you've found it.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Great potential but needs a bit of work.

Review by Keith1504 Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom

We stayed here for four nights at the beginning of November. We had booked a room with a hot tub on the balcony overlooking the sea, which was excellent. The hot tub was well maintained and a good temperature...

We used it a lot.

The hotel is in a good location by the sea and peaceful compared to some parts of St Julians. We found the staff to be all very friendly and helpful.

However, the dining facilities were very poor indeed especially for a five star hotel. They have an "a la carte" restaurant but it was closed. In the evening the only options were a buffet restaurant (which was one of the poorest buffets I've experienced) and a bar/lounge with a limited menu. Breakfast was also buffet and OK but I've seen many better There were many signs that the hotel has been well used and now it is getting old and worn. It's in serious need of a facelift.

Overall this hotel has great potential but it needs quite a bit of work.

One night

Location was amazing and had really nice views but the room I had was outdated and smelled like it had been either smoked inside or balcony door open which took away the freshnes one could expect from hotel room.

Good, but with some work to do

Review by Thomas1406 Bergen, Norway

Stayed here for two nights and were in general happy. I noted it said it's a five star hotel, but I wouldn't really say that. A good four star however is where they are right now.

  • We had a really great suite so absolutely nothing to complain about there...

Two balconies as well. Judging by the doors, hallway carpets, key system and other things, i suspect some of the other rooms are a bit more dated though.

  • Nice area with multiple pools. Unfortunately it was very windy when we were there, so some areas were closed, but that's not the hotels fault.
  • Free parking is always nice, although I feel most of the resort hotels offer it.
  • Lobby area looks very good and gives a quite lucury first impression
  • Front desk employees are very nice
  • Nice touch with chocolate and red wine in our suite (altough we never got around to drink the wine)

  • It's been mentioned in multiple reviews before, but breakfast operations fall short and are very ineffective. It's ok when it's not crowded, but even with a barely half full restaurant they struggled with long lines. Other mention they are understaffed, which is partly true, but the main issue is too few stations where you pick and choose. Therefore there will be queues not matter the amount of staff.
  • Face mask was not used by one of the chefs and another server wore the mask under his nose. I even saw a guy at one of the food stations pick his ear (with gloves) , looking at it, and then continue to serve food. Guest walked around without masks without being spoken to, and one even put her hand down the salt jar to put on the food. In theory the plan seem to be quite strict on regulations (in a positive way), but it didn't work in practice.
  • With the point above in mind, closing down the playground due to Covid-restrictions just becomes laughable (also it were open at other hotels). They also had a restriction on 6 people in the indoor pool (unfortunately on a first come first served basis, rather than bookings), but the employees in the SPA-reception didn't care, so at one point there were 20 people in there. We tried to wait diligently in que, but gave up when people just wandered inside without any consequence.
  • Pool area had a lot of dirty cups, plates and glasses that seemed to be standing there for multiple days. The kid-pool could have done good with a bit of cleaning.

A week at Malta

Review by Excursion173415

The hotel has a nice location (surrounded by the sea) - open space for walks/runs one direction, busy town part the other. The nearby St. George beach is ok for a swim but it is artificial, so it pays off to visit some other beaches too...

We enjoy our stay, just the room could have been more clean (floor).

Could be amazing but let down by closed facilities

Review by Marchello1985

We stayed in Early November, hotel was lovely, great view, big rooms, lots of facilities, if not a little in need of a spruce up. Our issue was that half the hotel was shut and we were not told this when booking. The sister hotel next door had loads more facilities and 3 clean outside pools which we also weren’t given the option to use...

Only the buffet was open and the outside pools were closed or too dirty to use. Our biggest issue was also that Malta and the hotel has a masks on inside policy due to Covid, yet one large group of Tennis players with a load of kids were allowed to walk around the hotel mask free unchallenged. When everyone else has to follow the rules this was extremely annoying and even when we raised it nothing was done about it. The hotel could be great and is labelled as 5 star but if definitely doesn’t operate as a 5 star hotel!
