This cosy, family-run hotel is excellently located in the centre of the charming town of Lagos, overlooking the promenade and the marina. The historic old town with its picturesque streets, shops, boutiques, restaurants, bars and attractions such as the ancient slave market or the statue of Henry the Navigator is just a few steps away. The sandy beaches of Meia-Praia and Dona Ana and several excellent golf courses are within easy reach.

We have been staying with Marina Rio for a number of years now, quite simply because we love everything about the hotel and the team, but Covid put paid to that for two years (thank you Covid!), so this Spring was our first time in three years and I'm pleased to report that nothing has changed, it was as though 'lockdown' had never happened.
The hotel is as immaculate as it has always been, the team of approximately 12 people are always very friendly and cheerful and keep it running efficiently and our room (there are 36 incidentally) was spotless as always and the breakfast food/ambience a delight.
From the moment we arrived (for 3 weeks!) we were fondly welcomed by Isabel (the Manager)and also by Andrea one of the owners. It was great to find all the same team were still in place, which is a testimony to this family run/owned business that they have managed to keep the team intact throughout troubled times and everyone pulls together as a team, clearly as a result of good management and working relationships within.
So, quite simply, still a great hotel, in a great location if you are staying in Lagos and great service in all respects.
Personally every time we visit we feel we have come home!
Stayed four days. This three star is far better than the four stars we stayed in for the past month. Spacious room...
Very clean. All four star amenities. Staff are first rate.
Breakfast excellent. Perfect location.
IF you are considering this hotel…book it. You will not be disappointed.
We stayed at Hotel Marina Rio for two nights. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the location across from the marina is beautiful. It's a 15 minute walk to get more into the heart of town and restaurants/bars, but the walk along the water is lovely...
Loved having a pool/seating area on the roof for additional chill time after the beach. I would advise waiting to decide if you want to do the hotel breakfast--there are so many delicious breakfast places to try in Lagos. Laundromat right around the corner.
Overall: good location, clean rooms, friendly staff.
We stayed in a marina view room, which was lovely. Keep in mind that the soap is provided in wall mounted dispensers (which I like but others may not). Only possible negative is that the room always smells faintly of chlorine when you first walk in.
From the moment we arrived until we left everything was perfect. A warm and friendly reception , beautifully clean room overlooking the Marina. Lovely beds and fabrics...
Great roof terrace and pool. Super convenient location for bars, restaurants, fish market, boat trips, golf, beach. Everything you could want.
