Set in the heart of the Algarve’s vibrant town of Lagos, Tivoli Lagos is a charming resort-style hotel offering a blend of Portuguese character and comfort. Designed like a traditional Algarve village, its whitewashed buildings and cobbled paths create a relaxed holiday atmosphere. The hotel is just a short stroll from Lagos’ historic centre, where guests can explore shops, cafés, and local landmarks, while the golden sands of Meia Praia beach are easily reached via a complimentary shuttle service in the summer months.
Tivoli Lagos offers a variety of facilities, including an outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers and a terrace, as well as a seasonal indoor pool and a wellness centre with massage services, sauna, and a fitness room. Guests can enjoy a range of dining options, from relaxed poolside snacks to regional Portuguese cuisine.
Guestrooms are decorated in a classic style, each with air conditioning, a balcony or terrace, satellite TV, free Wi-Fi, a minibar, and a private bathroom with a hairdryer. Upgraded rooms and suites offer extra space and enhanced comfort, some with views across the gardens or pool area.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Hotel was well taken care of! You could tell it was a bit older but our room was recently renovated. AC was amazing. The outdoor pool is great with decent poolside service. Good value on the on the room, which was also very clean. Overall atmosphere is great, almost Mediterranean and location is superb, close to old town but quiet in the evenings, reasonable noise levels. Indoor pool atmosphere was not great, it felt like the backrooms.
We absolutely loved our stay at NH Lagos and felt so well looked after from the moment we arrived until we left.
The location is absolutely perfect – it’s within walking distance of everything, making it so easy to explore Lagos.
The breakfast was fantastic with so many options every morning, and the dinner was equally amazing. We especially recommend the Italian restaurant in the hotel. With three different restaurants to choose from, there was something for everyone.
The pool area was beautiful and never felt overcrowded, which made it a lovely place to relax.
The staff were beyond amazing. Every single member of the team was friendly and welcoming. I didn’t get the name of the lady working at the downstairs bar, but she was so lovely and a pleasure to deal with throughout our stay.
A special thank you to Pedro, who truly went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. It was my partner’s birthday, and before we arrived Pedro helped me arrange a lovely surprise in our room. Then, on the actual birthday, we returned to find a beautiful handwritten birthday letter from Pedro along with drink vouchers to celebrate. It may seem like a small gesture, but it genuinely elevated our entire experience. That level of thoughtfulness and care is what separates this hotel from so many others. Pedro is a real credit to NH Lagos and truly understands what exceptional customer service looks like.
Our room was amazing – spotless, incredibly comfortable, with a beautiful view and a bed that gave us a great night’s sleep every night.
We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better stay and can’t wait to come back. We would highly recommend NH Lagos to anyone visiting the area. Thank you to everyone who made our holiday so special!
We spent 3 nights at this hotel and whilst the location is good, very close to the marina and the town, the hotel is in very poor condition. Our room was on the lower ground floor, facing the garden. It was quiet and private, although the patio area was too dirty to use and I think mosquitoes would be a real problem in warmer weather. There was lots of storage and plenty of space. There is a fridge in the room and the bed was comfortable. The outside pool area is in poor condition with broken decking boards and absolutely filthy loungers ~ nothing you would want to lie on! Some of the public areas were closed for repair, so hopefully there is a renovation programme. Breakfast had a good choice and the staff are very helpful. This hotel specialises in golfing trips so there are large groups in the dining room. Not all were considerate and golf bags propped up on stands were allowed at the ends of tables and one busy morning we were unable to access the only empty table because of golf bags lying on the floor behind our chairs ~ I think staff should ask guests to leave golf bags in the lobby (most golfers did this). We ate in the hotel one evening, which was quite expensive for an average meal, but there are lots of good restaurants in the town. We used the shuttle to visit the beach club. The club was closed for the week but you could buy a drink or meal. There was a charge for loungers, but they looked a lot cleaner than those at the hotel! It is an easy walk along the boardwalk back to the marina. This hotel needs a full refurbishment; we would probably choose another hotel if we returned to Lagos.
Decrepit, dirty and dated. Quite possibly the most awful hotel I’ve stayed in. Absolutely nowhere near a four star. The sun beds and pool area are an insult to guests they are absolutely filthy, broken and torn . Quite unbelievable that any hotel would offer these. Window dirty and the first room I was offered the bed was soiled. If I had not been with a walking tour I would have checked out immediately. The staff particularly Rafaela and Anabela did the best they could to assist. Management must walk around with their eyes closed the place needs power washing from head to toe.
This is very old and outdated hotel. The pictures are misleading and the experience on arrival was disappointing.
This is not a 4* experience and very expensive for what you get.
On a positive note, staff are very helpful and pleasant.
