Lagos

Occupying a central location in the Algarve city of Lagos, it's close to the marina and old town. It is a 10-minute drive from gorgeous beaches too and airport is less than 30 minutes away by car. Hotel has several restaurants, including a classic and authentic national eatery that comes highly recommended. At the main pub, guests can enjoy an aperitif or live music evenings. Guests love the many quirky indoor and outdoor public spaces, and the hotel's Beach Club on the white sands of Meia Praia is the perfect spot for pool parties and weddings.Combine history and culture with beachside bliss when guests holiday at the stylish hotel. The hotel's elegant rooms all have a balcony or terrace that overlooks the resort, Lagos or Atlantic Ocean. Our top-floor suite even has views that stretch all the way across the city and beach to Portimao. All rooms are air conditioned and equipped with all amenities needed.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Nice hotel and even better location

Review by TammyB736 Toronto, Canada

This hotel, was very pleasant and clean. The pool was cold to enter, but the lawn chairs were always taken so be sure to secure one early if that's your plan. We went mostly to the beach, the shuttle service was so great...it only takes you to one beach but a taxi ride over to the others is very cheap...

The staff are okay, not super pleasant but not rude. I would recommend this hotel because of it's good reputation, cleanliness and location.

Lovely stay great staff

Review by cazleeds Wetherby, United Kingdom

My friend and I stayed for 4 nights with jet2 holidays for birthday celebration. We had a great stay and didnt encounter any of issues on negative reviews here. We did pay extra to upgrade which i would recommend both for renovated room and handy location to main amenities...

Positives.. the breakfast buffet lots choices... the Portuguese a la carte was suberb ( you get a discount voucher if on half board)...love the free drink scheme if you chose not to have room serviced.. bar drinks good value esp in happy hour.. the staff are a huge credit to this hotel! Without exception they are friendly, hard working and so helpful. A special mention to the gentleman who handles luggage and shows you to room. He went above and beyond for us.. taking our bags to pick up point on transfer day. He was so genuine and helpful. I wanted to give him a tip but he darted off so quickly i couldn't catch him sadly. He deserves employee of month award!! Negatives... not enough sun loungers round pool and despite notes to contrary people reserved them early doors! Although the free shuttle to Dunas beach had plenty free loungers on the beach....some areas need a little attention..the Italian a la carte wasn't good as evidenced by hardly anyone using it on 4 nights we were there.. the pizza was rock hard and really very poor. In summary i would recommend and would stay again if ever in Lagos but in a superior room. The location is great too.

Run down and not fit for purpose

Review by NorthStar00454065060 Markethill, United Kingdom

Absolutely not anywhere near a 4*. Mouldy damp smelling. Tv attached to a tiled wall with wires hanging down just above a sofa bed my son slept in...

Pool full of birds with zero atmosphere or music. Cracked, broken tiles throughout pool area!!. Never once saw pool area being cleaned. Chewing gum stuck to walls. Coffee pods in room chargeable. Any piece of fruit or food taken from breakfast €20 pp charged. Manager fails to engage and let’s his staff deal with queries whilst he hides behind the scene. Maintenance dire!! Balcony disgusting with a weeded dirty area with sun beds you wouldn’t put a dog on. For the price we paid (extortiate) was so disappointed after difficult 2 years, we expected so much better. I can’t see how the hotel and travel company rate this as a 4. Just look at our pictures it’s appalling and we spent all that money for nothing short of a hungry greedy hotel chain offering a hotel not fit for purpose

Great Hotel For the Price!

Review by Hazel B Mottram in Longdendale, null, United Kingdom

Got worried about past reviews on this hotel, but didn’t need to worry as the hotel functions perfectly well if you don’t expect five star quality for three star cost. We stayed in room 3101 in the main building which I would recommend - in fact any room 3101-3105 and 4101-4105 are all great as they are fully modernised and moments away from the main reception, pool and bar area. These are classed as ‘superior’ rooms (not classic or standard rooms) and cost a bit more but totally worth it...

Great toiletries, fantastic shower, super soft towels, new hairdryer, comfy bed (but not pillows to be fair), very clean and soft bedding, hot water forever, and very spacious room and bathroom with plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space. Air con was quiet but unable to amend the settings. You have to sacrifice the view as there isn’t one in these rooms, but I preferred the privacy rather than people watching! If you download the hotel app on your phone it’s invaluable telling you everything you need to know including contacting room service and facilities. We needed more coat hangers as there was only six in the room so we ordered them on the app and they appeared within half an hour! You can order many other extras if needed.

Breakfast was superb with great choice and hot food was hot (not warm) and even bubbles if you want a cheeky one at breakfast. We were B&B so can’t comment on the buffet meals for half boarders - but if breakfast was anything to go by, then it was likely very good indeed.

If you like to lounge by the pool, get up very early as most people ‘bag’ their sunbed around 7am !! This was Brits too - so the argument about it being the Germans was not happening in this hotel! We don’t like the pool as we much prefer to beach so it wasn’t an issue, but there are very few pool sun beds for the amount of rooms so it’s definitely a case of ‘the quick and the dirty’ to get one. Hotel provides a free bus every hour and back to their Beach Club called Duna Beach on Meia Praia beach. It’s a little tired looking to be fair, and you have to pay extra to have a bed around the pool, but the ones on the beach are free and the bar and staff are great. We walked further up the beach, and preferred to lie on the sand but then came back for a drink and toilets when needed.

One word of warning is DO NOT put your room card near you iphone or iPad because it demagnetises it and so won’t open you door. We had numerous trips back to reception to get it sorted despite wrapping the card in paper. It’s difficult when you only have a handbag and no pockets but need to try to keep them distant. If we had been in the other rooms (some of which are about 7-12 mins walk back to reception) I would not have been happy!

Location is absolutely brilliant. Turn right for old town and all its shops and bars , turn left for the marina and the beach if you want to walk rather than the hotel bus. Very central and think this is why its classed as 4 star for its location and food as opposed to amazing rooms and views. As said, you get what you pay for, and we were happy with what we got for a week’s break in a clean, comfy room. Would definitely return but would make sure it was a superior room in the main building.
