Second Stay at Dom Jose

Review by Jayyyy_D97 London, United Kingdom

Another lovely stay at the Dom Jose. Me and my fiancée have previously stayed at this hotel in November 2019 for 4 days and decided to come back this year for our main summer holiday for 10 days.

We arrived on Saturday 23rd July, we arrived around 12:45pm and was met by a lovely receptionist...

Although we couldn’t access our room, we done all the paperwork so when it was ready we could just collect the keycard. This was nice and did certainly save us some time. Although checkin was at 3pm, to our amazement, we was able to access our room from 2pm.

We stayed in room 322, this was very clean, modern and had a wonderful view of the sea and beach. Even though the seafront is busy, particularly at night with all the restaurants, bars and shops, the room was very quiet, I am a light sleeper and had no issue.

Our breakfast experience was great, there is a wide variety of choice and something for everyone, I even tried a continental breakfast on a number of occasions in the morning, there are also several different juices available and coffee machines. The waiters and waitresses were lovely and every table was cleaned and items removed swiftly once people were done, this was nice to see that the waiters/waitresses take pride in what they do.

We didn’t eat in the main restaurant at night, we opted to eat in the bar 5 times during our stay, the staff in the bar are very accommodating, friendly, helpful and always made sure our needs were met. Special thank you to Iago who we remember seeing from our previous visit and he remembered us, he is an absolute credit to the team and does build rapport with every customer, it’s very nice to see staff taking the time to speak and acknowledge each customer. If you want to go out, there are a number of different restaurants and bars along the seafront with plenty of choice to suit everyone.

There is also a pool bar behind the pool, this was a nice touch and it does save you from having to go to main bar and order food and drinks. We also dealt with Giovanna almost daily, she is a credit to the team, very friendly and helpful.

The pool area was amazing, the layout around the pool has changed and the pool is a lot bigger than when we first visited. With the exception of one day when we went out, we sat around the pool from 9am until 4/5pm everyday. The sun is on this area from around 10am until 6/7pm, the hotel does provide umbrellas you can put up if you are getting hot, they were a welcome relief when it hit 38 degrees on one of the days.

I celebrated my birthday here and it was lovely to receive a basket of fruit and a bottle of water, special thank you to the hotel for this.

If you are looking for a place to stay in Quarteira, then I highly recommend Dom Jose. We will certainly be returning!

Helpful.

A review mainly about reception staff. We had a medical emergency and a few personal problems. Only caught one name, "Antonio" He quickly arranged private transport to hospital and was really part of a team including medical that save my wife's life...

They arranged an extra 3 days stay at a discount with food, helped with taxis for my hospital visits, and gave me a couple of free days on the beach. All of them went above and beyond . I cannot thank them enough. As a review of the hotel.. it really is true what all the positive comments say . My only minus point is the pool, In my opinion it looks fabulous but impractical. Too many beds and brollies means your really on top of each other with no room for maneuver, and if one brolly goes up it can block your sun. Its unbearable stuffy too. My tip... budget for the beach its fabulous on there, cooler with mattresses on the beds and plenty of wiggle room. Great hotel though,

Week away

I am in quartaria on a week's wonderful holiday in the Dom jose hotel. It has been wonderful, staff were great, food lovely. The room was cleaned every day, only drawback was the size of the balcony, it only fit one person comfortably, it was awkward and far too small.

Great position

Great professionally run hotel only a couple of minor gripes. First of all clean and well run. Buffet breakfast was well laid out and well presented with something from hot to cold for every taste...

Access straight onto the beach promenade and 40m to sandy private beach ( though also open to public including the entertaining beach sellers.) First gripe fee payable by guests for shade and sunbeds of 15 Euros for two people rather excessive with no reduction for being a hotel guest. Also no on beach food or drink availability for guests. Pool at hotel is very over crowded and crammed full of sunbeds ( pictures do not show). Perhaps a roof pool would have been better and more spacious rather than a mini golf course? This in light of the beach being steep shelving and water very cold ( Atlantic) and with wind develops a heavy undercurrent so not ideal for kids. No coach access to hotel so dropped at another hotel with 150m drag of bags to the reception. tip: Use a taxi to and from the hotel door from airport less than 40 euros and much better. Balcony sea view excellent ( extra cost) a must but alternative ( service road) is not what we came on holiday for. Rooms cleaned every day reception exceptionally helpful even arranging a mobility scooter locally delivered and collected without fuss( 10 euros per day). All in all a very relaxing civilised place to stay.

So pleased to be back at this fabulous hotel

Review by roxy4260 Cullercoats, United Kingdom

Just returned from our second stay at this fabulous hotel. Right on beach in Quarteria. From the minute we walked through door we were greeted by helpful and friendly staff...

Nothing was too much bother. The food in restaurant was lovely. ( only had breakfast). Bar served great drinks and meals. Our room Was lovely and so clean. Overlooked beach. Pool area is lovely. Thankfully staff do not allow people to leave towels on sun beds. This meant beds available. We used beach most days for sunbathing. Paid for beds and brolly. Lovely walk into Vilamoura. We would recommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely be back.
