ROC Lago Rojo

The location was fantastic, out the back gate & you're right in the middle of a wonderful street of restaurants, small bars & shops of which one side is directly on the beach promenade. Our first impression of the hotel was that the corridors are very unwelcoming and dated but the junior suite we had on the 2nd floor was actually spacious and more than ok. Nice newly refurbished bathroom, very comfortable bed. Room was cleaned every day to a very good standard. We were 1/2 board, hubby went for breakfast but for English breakfast selection was poor but eggs & omelettes were cooked to order and we're very nice. Evening meal was sometimes better than others but we always found something we liked and left satisfied. Restaurant staff worked really hard and we're very efficient. Couldn't use the ground floor pool as it was always in shade and not in Idea location. The roof top bar was very popular, hard to get a sun lounger but we always got a table and chairs which we preferred to read in the sun, you could always get loungers later in the afternoon, same with the roof top pool area. Local busses were regular and great value. We walked along to the marina at benalmadena every day which is a lovely walk along the beach & is a wonderful area with lots of food, drinks & shopping and had a great vibe. There were some lovely hotels directly on the beach but we felt the Alua Sun was excellent value for money and would definitely return.

Just had a lovely ten days in this lovely resort and lovely hotel.The staff are all excellent and very professional and friendly,food was good especially the breakfast omelettes are amazing.The management should be veryproud.This has been our fifth time and will be back in February.Thank.you all for making our holiday enjoyably.

We had a week here the last week of November. The hotel was spotlessly clean, all the staff we encountered were friendly. We had no issues with the food, I am a fussy eater so I know there will be limited things I will eat ( my fault not the hotel) my partner always enjoyed everything he tried!

As people have mentioned the hotel does need some updating which they are in the process of doing.

The carpets on the corridors are old and stained, the room doors need replacing, our room had a new bathroom and the room had been recently painted. The furniture however needs replacing!! Our room overlooked the bins, so the view wasn’t great, and we would be disturbed by the bins being emptied each day, which is obviously no fault of the hotel.

We would definitely return, but would look at paying extra for an upgraded room!
