Good family hotel

Review by Corkgal84 Cork, Ireland

Stayed here for a week during the Easter holiday. We stayed in a sea view 2 bedroom apartment. There are pros and cons to the resort.

Cons: Apartment was nice, some small issues like the sliding doors to the balcony were very stiff and noisy and didn't close properly so on windy days they rattle...

The balcony was very poor, alot could be done to make it a nice space. Air conditioning didn't work so if it is very hot I could see it being very uncomfortable. Thankfully it didn't impact us during our stay. Soundproofing was abysmal, we had very noisy neighbours who liked to come in at 2 am and put on music and get intimate. Every noise and moan was heard as if they were in the room with you. Bring earplugs if like me you are a light sleeper. The pool was freezing, not sure what way it is during the summer.

Pros: Location is fantastic, so much around the hotel. Kids Club staff are fantastic, so much so that my daughter cried all the way to the airport as she was gonna miss kids club! Happy hour is good, be prepared for a queue, can't imagine what it would be like during peak season! Good supermarket on-site, they even have vending machines and a pharmacy vending machine if you get stuck.

Overall it was a really nice place, little things to improve it would make a huge difference. Great for families!

Could it be better

Review by andantes Llinars del Valles, Spain

We stayed on Sol Timor for three days during our easter holidays travel around Andalucia. We choose it because as member of Melia club I found it a good offer. The building seems was divided, as there is another building that thouhg could be part of this aparthotel, the one in the right looking at sea. Well, our apartement have one double bed and sofa bed, that is in hte living room, so, it's quite annoying having to open and close everyday. The apartment was quite good, with frigo, kitchen, microowen, 43" TV, and a balcony...

Ours was facing the swimming pool and the tennis court. There was no noise, I mean, it seems rooms are quite isolated. Breakfast was superb, Melia standard, with eggs and omelette done at the moment, bacon, saussages, etc. Plenty of ham, chesse, mermelades, pastry, etc. We had the breakfast in the swimming pool, becuase there was warm. Elevators were quite busy, and sometimes it took more time than expected to use it. The only drawback was the reception, we asked to have the tennis court reserved and they said it was free, and when I went with my daughter to pay for it and play, the girl that was in that moment in the reception told us she had booked it to another guests and we couldnd't use it. We felt cheated, as she didn't offer any option.

Nice spot, will return!

Review by jonmZ6819YU Dublin, Ireland

We stayed mid April. Place was quiet enough apart from the odd group of lads or girls who can’t hold their drink… nothing unusual there.

Room was basic, the air conditioning was acting up though. We didn’t mind too much as it did the job!

Location wise, it’s an ideal location surrounded by 100’s of shops and restaurants...

The hotel backs out onto the beach. Beaches are clean and sandy!

Lots of other interesting places around and near by.

Staff were very friendly and helpful.

A couple of major issues ruined it

Review by Bill H Liverpool, United Kingdom

On the positive side, the hotel has an excellent kids club. The staff running it are amazing and the best thing about the hotel. The Katmandu staff are truly exceptional...

The pool is large but unheated. There's a well stocked supermarket on site and the room is comfortably furnished. The location is brilliant. Short walk to marina. Next to beach and promenade. New laminate flooring throughout. Plentiful hot water. WiFi was good. Safety deposit box in reception due to previous occupant taking the key. However this wasn't a problem. Safety box is charged extra. Good laundry on site which dispenses the washing liquid and conditioner. Fridge was excellent and cooled drinks very quickly. Housekeeping was every couple of days and they did a pretty decent job.

On the negative side, kitchen smelled musty and damp. Bathroom had some mould around the tap. Bathroom door and frame had water damage so flaking paint / swelled wood. Windows had gaps so didn't close properley. Frames were old and dirty inside. Glass cracked in lounge window.

There were some ants in the kitchen. The seals around the hob and worktops needed to be replaced.

On the final day the temp jump up from mid 20's to 31. As a result we found the air conn didn't work. Kids couldn't sleep. Also probably as a result of the temperature increase, a roach crawled through the fire suppression system and landed on the sofa in the lounge. The final night experience caused us to cancel our June reservation.

Lovely hotel

Review by pam g wigan

Stayed here for the 1st time for a week in March, its in an excellent location close to beach, pubs, eating places, close to the harbour. The hotel is nice our room was basic but we normally just sleep in there, it was clean and tidy only problem with the weather being bad we stayed in more and with only limited cutlery and one pan it was hard to eat in the apartment other than that we will 100% stay here again
