The Silken Saaj Las Palmas is a 4-star hotel with an excellent location at the entrance to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, on the sea front by Las Alcaravaneras beach and close to the Sailing Club, very near the shopping centre and the main street with all the restaurants and other businesses.
It is a newly-built urban boutique hotel with all facilities. The hotel has only just opened in 2018 so you can be among the first to enjoy using its facilities. Eight floors with a cutting-edge luxury design, including an eye-catching façade with glass panels that change colour according to the light reflected from the sky.
The hotel has 66 light, spacious, modern rooms on six floors. All of them are beautifully designed with ultra-modern decoration, plus the latest advances in comfort, smart systems and light design.
Checked in late evening after admission of a family member to hospital. The reception staff were very unhelpful and wouldn’t let me stay more than 1 night unless they had a checkout date which I didn’t have because of the hospital situation. Located on a very busy road. With a building site next door. Very loud noise from the building site from 0730. Trying to be a trendy boutique hotel and failing miserably. Try cleaning the mouldy shower in room 311, I felt dirtier coming out than going in. Interior room only had a window in the bathroom looking into other rooms, very grateful for the roller blinds for my modesty!!
Whilst this hotel has some good points, I'd advise against booking a "standard" room as this means absolutely no view from the window - our view was of internal walls; we had to crane our necks up to see the sky to gauge what the weather might be. The room itself was small and dark. The lighting options were limited (all pre-set) and none were particularly bright. The decor was black/dark grey. The bathroom was a bit smelly, and a leakage from somewhere came up between the floorboards. The shower was good though and the bed was comfortable. Dinner was served on the roof terrace even in the wind and the rain - we were offered blankets! The food is good though, and a reasonable price. The local beach is across a six lane road - you have to walk up the road a fair bit to get to the crossing. The beach has no bar or other inviting facilities to make you want to spend time there, and it seems to be an artificial beach in the marina/port area; the view is of the commercial port of container ships and - slightly more interestingly - cruise ships. To our mind, the hotel missed a trick by not utilising the breakfast area more during the day - there were few places just to sit and be (even in the bedroom the only seating option was the desk chair). The only friendly member of staff we came across was Juan, the evening waiter. We won't be returning. It is more of a business hotel or for a short city-break.
Perfect two days stay. Highly recommend, clean room, beautiful view from the rooftop and friendly staff. Breakfast including Cava and fresh fruits.
I had 2 very nice days at Silken Hoteles. Hotel location near to everything. 5-6 min walk to the Canteras beach. City Center very near- and passing underway to the beach. Very good breakfast, and dinner is served on the top of the hotel with nice view of the area. No lunch is served at the hotel. But lunch will anyway be taken somewhere outside. Very pleasant staff, both at the reception, in the breakfast area and on the top.
Lovely staff, clean and big room. Breakfast is good. Location is perfect if you want to explore the wonderful city of Las Palmas. We had a room with a view of the beach and really enjoyed our time here. We didn't get to go to the roof bar but will definitely do that next time.
