It wasn’t a relaxing stay for me. I liked the food and the rooms, especially the view from the 7th floor, but that’s about it. Location- not great, very misleading information about the distance to the beach. Actually an acceptable beach where you can swim (not in a stinky water) or get into the water without getting injured is 20mins walk away (with no public transport option). Pool area- overcrowded, people “reserving” loungers very early in the morning...
Pool is much smaller than on pictures, warm water so not really refreshing when it’s hot, but the worst are the screaming, splashing children with their toys filling the whole pool so it’s impossible to swim. Parents/staff don’t have any control over it. Spa & gym- ridiculous opening times 10am to 6pm Restaurant- overcrowded, even though the meals are tasty, long lines to first find a table, the to get food/drink. Very disorganised! Staff- friendly reception- especially Femke and Jessica, avoid Armando- can’t communicate and could do with a customer service training. The rest of the staff on the verge to be rude, everything seems to be “impossible”. To give you an example- since they are too lazy to mix cocktails properly I asked the barmaid to borrow me her shaker for a few minutes (which I wanted to use in front of her to simply mix my own drink)- that was impossible(!). Cleanliness- our floor and bathroom has not been cleaned at all for 4 days, after flagging this up with reception the cleaner came back and asked us what she suppose to clean. Drinks- wine is OK, the rest simply horrible! Animation- not for adults, really dull and poor. Lifts- you can spend your entire holiday waiting for them. Overall the hotel took the “family friendly” profile to an extreme, all you can see and hear all day are children running, screaming, splashing water. No respect! Some adults only areas are much needed. I won’t be returning there for sure.
A really nice hotel. Nice location central in the city. Nice rooms, food and drink in all incl...
Is ok and there is enough. The cleanliness of the rooms is perfect. All in all, it can be recommended. Only problem is the pool area. It's way too small. When you see the pictures on the website, half of the deck chairs have been removed. The reality is they stand with 30 cm distance. In this Covid time it seems a bit strange especially when the hotel writes one has to keep 2 meters distance. There are fine stations to spray hands on, but not many people use them, and the hotel staff do not seem to do anything to ask people to use these.
Me and my Girlfriend visited this hotel from the end of June to the start of July for one week. The check-in was a little slow, however, that wasn't a major problem. Once we got checked-in, it was all up from there...
After checking the room, we were pleasantly surprised. It was a very large room, very modern and clean. Great sea and pool view. The bed was also extremely comfy! After this, we went to the pool and had a snack at the pool bar and already onto the cocktails. The cocktails were actually very good. I was impressed. However, one of our only complaints is that the food choice for vegetarians is extremely poor. At the pool bar, only sometimes, could we have pizza, otherwise, our only option was fries or onion rings. The poor variety was the same for the buffet lunch and dinner. Two of the nights, we had to have fries, rice and spaghetti with a basic sauce because there was no options for us. That wasn't so nice because vegetarian diets are increasing so more choice would be nice. That's mainly why it's not a 5 star review. The hotel facilities were great and me and my Girlfriend enjoyed going just out the hotel for a walk and even snorkelled right outside the hotel at the rocks and it was amazing! The staff were nice but I wouldn't say overly friendly but no complaint there. The English wasn't the best but again, not a major issue. Overall, excellent stay and would consider coming back. However, I just hope more vegetarian options become available.
Great service, lovely food. Everything is in an easy proximity of each other, making the trips to the pool bar and snacks short and convenient. Even the restaurant has tables outside and adjacent to the pool so you’re never far away from your sunbed...
The pool is heated in some parts and never freezing cold.
The food was pretty satisfying, a huge range of snacks available from 12-4pm: burgers, hot dogs, roast chicken, chips, pizza, onion rings, salad, even a sizzling griddle to cook your own meat and vegetables at a table if you wish.
The food in the evenings was also nice. There was not a huge selection of meats - steaks one night and fish and pork the next - but it was all cooked very nicely.
Comfortable rooms which have been refurbished to a good standard, modern and with lovely views of the pool, beach and sunset.
The staff were ever so helpful and polite, even when I lost the key card to my room at one point. There was no fuss or aggravation, they simply gave me another.
A very relaxed atmosphere, maybe due to the lack of English people there at the moment, I’m not sure, I can’t quite put my finger on it (I live in Gran Canaria, I’m not a tourist). But with Covid still a threat, there was no one acting irresponsibly or staff nagging at you to sanitise etc. Everybody was very cautious and were trusted to respect the rules on their own which made a nice change from a 5 star hotel I went to recently that were all over you and made you feel you were being watched.
There is easy access to a beach through the swimming pool area if you fancy a change of scenery or a nice walk and there are shops close by if you need anything.
The entertainment was just that, certain adjustments have had to be made due to Covid so it was brought outside to the pool area, but it didn’t take anything away from the enjoyment.
A visit to the Spa is worth it although there is no access to the saunas at the moment.
I highly recommend this hotel for the warm service, lovely food, comfortable rooms and relaxed atmosphere. Great value all round. Everything you need for a pleasant week away in the sun. Families love it, couples love it, and everyone always looked to be having a great time here. We will be returning soon.
I stayed at Dorado Beach for 2 weeks for a break and to work remotely. My room had a balcony that directly overlooked the ocean and was the perfect spot to watch the sunset.
The staff was incredibly friendly and always go out of their way to help...
The Hotel Manager Sofia and assistant manager Isaac made sure my stay was 10/10.
The hotel has a small beach right next to it, which is super convinient. It also has a roof top solarium and the main pool was a huge outdoor pool with plenty of sunbeds.
Thank you for making my stay amazing!
