Not a relaxing hotel anymore!

After a delay with our flight we arrived late at the hotel….10.30pm so were rather tired. There wasn’t a queue and we had a nice welcome and were given the rooms we had requested. Also requested were extra pillows and bed topper….these were also done. As we had missed our evening meal we were told that we could choose to take a lunch any day to make up for it. The room was rather dated but clean. It could certainly do with a spruce up. The bathroom which had a rainfall shower plus an adjustable shower also had shower gel, shampoo and conditioner pumps. By the sink were soap and body cream pumps…the hair drier was also there. The bedroom had a very large comfortable bed with wardrobe, drawers, two chairs and several plugs and usb ports. There was a free fridge but no kettle…we took one with us! The safe was €15 per week plus a €10 deposit and was quite a tight fit for our iPads. The balcony had two plastic chairs a table and a folding rusty drier!

Our first breakfast seemed very noisy….the guests were loud and the clatter of dishes was too! This carried on all through our 2 weeks holiday, so not relaxing for us. There was a large choice of continental food plus eggs and bacon, pancakes etc. and a chef cooking omelettes. Help yourself to teas and coffees from a machine and walk back and forth with your cup for a refill! Glasses often ran out for juices and paper cups were provided! Lots of different breads but not everyone used the napkin provided to hold and cut it! The first evening meal was more than disappointing. The soup was the best bit ….there were hardly any meat dishes out…just some pulled pork and chicken wings while the only thing the chef was cooking was some sort of fish! The rest of the fortnights evening meals were certainly not exciting…the meats on the whole were poor and tough, but we did have more variety ….including pizzas and pastas….and lots of fish. Desserts also were mainly the same just some mousse stuff with biscuits in (either as a base or plonked on the top) and a few other bits and pieces of cake, fruit, ice cream and more mousses. Several nights liquid/juice had run out of a mousse dessert and soaked the paper underneath so if you took a slice you got a load of wet soggy paper too! Fran served us many times and he was very nice friendly and helpful . We usually joined the 6.30 pm queue as that wasn’t a long wait once the doors opened.

The queues at breakfast were ridiculous. We were there at 8.30 which was just about ok but even then we often had a slight queue. By the time we left there was always a long queue at the door and once or twice it went down the corridor and up the stairs!

There was no dress code adhered to at the evening meal…..shorts and t shirts for all were acceptable.

Unusually….. prices of drinks at the evening meal weren’t displayed anywhere and the water was served in opened bottles saying it was filtered water! We didn’t like that and it was hardly ever chilled! We did get a bill half way through to check the prices! 1 litre water was €2.90 1/2 litre water €2.60 Small beer €3.40 white coffee €2.80

At check in we were given a wrist band and this was used as our room key and also to put charges for drinks etc on during our stay, which we found highly convenient.

For the pool towels you have to request tickets from reception to take to the pool guy at the pool. Loungers were pretty old and dirty and the best spots were taken by 9.30 , but more loungers were often available further away from the pool. There weren’t many chairs for those who couldn’t lay on a lounger… perhaps 5 or 6 at the most! The pool bar served drinks and food but at lunch time could get very busy and the outside area wasn’t big enough to seat everyone at that time. There wasn’t a menu displayed here so it was difficult to know what to order and of course the price. It was probably all on the App you are supposed to use ….but what happens if you don’t use Apps like us?! Music was very loud round the pool when water aerobics took place in the mornings and because it’s not a big area you can’t escape it by trying to get further away! One Friday afternoon the amplified music went on for hours and was so loud we left the pool and sat on our balcony overlooking the sea/promenade for some peace and quiet!

Our room was serviced every day by friendly staff. But we weren’t sure how often the floor was cleaned as my travel slippers were black on the bottom by the end of our holiday. The sheets were only changed once during our fortnights holiday and they were very worn with holes in!

The hotel certainly wasn’t full of old people …..there was a mix of families (predominantly Spanish) with various ages of children and many couples…. young and old. In fact some evenings children were running up and down the corridor until quite late and there were also families talking loudly in the corridor along with the usual banging of bedroom doors!

The last day….check out etc was rather a shambles! We had lunch booked as we missed our first evening meal….. although the food was ok we were asked by numerous waiters why we there… were we A.I…..where were our wrist bands etc. so in the middle of our meal we had to try and explain it! Then came the retrieving of our luggage and the courtesy room! We had a time booked but there were so many people queuing to check in it took us ages and even when we got to the front we found the room wasn’t ready!

In summary…… The hotel has changed since our last visit some years ago and in our eyes not for the better! Of course the hotel was still in a really great position and did need a little TLC, but we think this was happening gradually.

But ……for us with the noise levels at the meal times, particularly at breakfasts ( from which there was no escaping) and the loud music round the pool we didn’t get the relaxing holiday we were hoping for. Also with the evening meals being so disappointing, mainly due to the quality of the meats and the poor repetitive desserts, we probably won’t return.

Peaceful week in Puerto

Recent 9 night stay on 5th Floor sea view room. Hotel mostly very clean though area around shower floor/door needed scrubbing. Good toiletries provided with fresh towels & bedding. Staff very friendly with excellent customer service. Good choice of drinks at reasonable price. Food excellent breakfast, evening quality variable. Could have been better meat & fish available & more vegetarian options. Pasta mostly had meat sauces or sometimes Spinach! We never queued for long for a table & most nights drinks arrived straight away. Pool area good with plenty of sunbeds away from pool & no early dash to reserve. Snack Bar by pool with a limited menu bit good value fresh food. Activities all day if you wanted to join in. Evening entertainment daily & a few music acts were very good. Hotel in a good position & easy walk along the front. Quiet apart from few doors banging at night but last night very noisy at the front due to groups of teenagers. Police were about all the time during the day moving on the street traders but not seen that night. Surprised Security didn't ask for them to be moved on as must have disturbed all of the rooms at the front. Hotel suitable for couples or young families & all nationalities. We would return to the Hotel but perhaps eat out at night.

An amazing holiday

The location was ever so picturesque very close to Lago Martinez directly opposite so an amazing view of the man made lake and the sea and the bay beyond, a short 5min walk to get on the free transport to Loro Park zoo, which was an amazing day out, the H10 Tenerife Playa hotel facilities are brilliant, the "Blue Team" have a great range within the program of organised games, including Archery, shuffle board, petanque, darts, bollards, ping pong, darts, mini golf hooplah and Cornhole, aqua gym and aqua Zumba, then in the evenings they organise Bingo, and professional shows of vocalists or acrobats, Raul, Natalia and Javier made sure we enjoyed our holiday through our 10 day stay, Raul is particularly entertaining and charismatic and funny and engaging and energetic giving 110%. All the hotel staff are so friendly and helpful Fernando in the bar is full of energy and dancing while serving drinks, the food is delicious and hot and a very wide variety even on themed nights every one can find something they like and find very tasty, the dining room is clean, you're seated quickly and staff nice and friendly, we also ate at the pool bar restaurant that was good too. The room was cleaned every day, bedding changed and fresh towels, the hair drier in the bathroom is good and strong, no need to bring one from home. The reception staff were helpful at check in and checkout, and we needed advice to find a route to an activity we had booked and a man on the reception went out of his way to plan our route gave us the bus numbers etc, so extremely helpful. The swimming pools and jacuzzi are clean one pool is warmer than the other but both pleasant, the gardens are well kept, there is a lot of variety of flowering trees and shrubs, and any fallen leaves cleared away and patio, hosed down daily. The room was quiet both day and night. Overall I thoroughly recommend this hotel and can't wait to come again.

Poor start better finish

Where to begin? I have been lucky to have traveled around the world and have stayed in many hotels but this was the oddest experience I've ever had. Started out terribly but ended better due to the diligence of one employee. Shouldn't have happened in the first place (read on and see my photos). The hotel is dated. Investments need to be made, in short order, to get it up to snuff. From the get-go it felt like we were in an old-folks home. Mostly Brits in the over-70 range which is fine but there must be a reason why this hotel doesn't attract a younger demographic. We were initially given room 335. If you are unlucky enough to be given this room, don't accept it. Run. It smelled like something had died (and was still dead) in it. We asked for a new room but were initially told no and that we'd have to pay for a better room. We tried toughing it out by asking it to be better cleaned, we bought candles and a spray (with our own money) but to no avail. The nasty smell prevailed. Putrid. The last straw was seeing a cockroach running across the floor that we smashed obviously. We went to the front desk to which a very nice employee (didn't get her name) apologized and promptly upgraded us to a much better room. She was very empathetic and professional. Kudos to her for trying to save the day. Still, in both rooms, the wifi was very weak. The TV barely caught any channels. I've never stayed in a hotel before where they don't provide you with an iron and board. They only have a laundry service you must pay for. Unacceptable in the year 2026! Again, upgrade! Modernize! As you walk around the property there is obvious signs of antiquated conditions and some cleanliness issues. Matresses strewn on a ledge (see photo)!? Never before had I seen that in any hotel. The pool has a sign stating it closes at 20h00 yet the employees come to you saying it closes at 19h00. Again, inconsistencies. The pools, however, were nice. There is no parking. You must park in the marina docks and walk 12-15 minutes back to the hotel. Not the end of the world since the walk is pleasant through town. Just be aware in the event you rent a car. And beware of the phony lot attendants trying to scam you for money. The lot has no attendants and is free. On the bright side, the food was good, in a cruise ship kind of way. Never any shortage of anything and the staff is efficient and friendly. Would I ever stay here again? Absolutely not. And this H10 brand has been tainted for me, for life. Stay at your own risk.

Noise!!

Noise from renovation work inside hotel whilst sitting having breakfast. - namely pneumatic concrete breakers. Noise from large groups young people screaming and shouting directly in front of the hotel until well after midnight. Noise from poor quality singing artists either from within the H10 or next door .. just unbelievable anyone would sit and listen to such annoying rubbish - would surely need to be completely drunk . Food has improved from my last visit and staff are much friendly than before - thank goodness . Room was very comfortable- apart from the external noise .
