The Marari Beach is an eco-friendly hotel that occupies an enviable location near the local fishing village of Mararikulam. The lush garden setting, adjacent beach and traditional thatched roof buildings all combine to create the perfect backdrop for a truly relaxing holiday. Imagine lazing in a hammock under the palm trees and listening to the waves lapping the sand… This is the holiday you've been dreaming of.
As soon as you arrive at the Marari Beach, you feel welcomed, relaxed and right at home. This is a holiday that is just perfect as a 'get away' where you can forget, even for a couple of weeks, the stresses and demands of daily life back home.
The location is ideal if you want everything on hand, but still want a sense of privacy and some choices on surroundings. The site is lush and green, with lots of cute little thatched cottages dotted about. On one day you might want to enjoy the gardens and maybe find a shady spot to enjoy a book. On another, you could choose to spend your time poolside – either taking in a few lengths or simply interspersing a refreshing dip with a chapter or two of a good book. And as another option, how about a few hours enjoying the clean white sandy beach, lined with swaying palm trees, with white crested waves coming in from the distance?
The elegant simplicity of the accommodation at the Marari Beach is well worth a mention. All of the prettily named Garden Villas have their own private terrace and wonderfully unique bathrooms which are partly open to the sky, so you can really be at one with nature. An outdoor shower is a holiday experience that's hard to beat!
The villas are simply furnished and enhanced with fresh local hibiscus flowers picked from the gardens and arranged for your pleasure. In line with their eco-friendly policy the rooms do not have a TV however one can be found in the recreational room if you need it. Garden Pool Villas and Deluxe Pool Villas are also available at a supplement.
As well as an excellent activities programme, the Marari Beach also offers an Ayurveda Treatment Centre plus yoga and meditation to keep you occupied and relaxed. The village walk and butterfly and bird watching activities are also worth doing. And if you're feeling energetic, bikes are available (at a fee) for you to go out exploring.
Why not treat yourself to a holiday to remember at the four star Marari Beach? You'll be pleased you did!

Marari Beach was a beautiful resort to end our all too brief trip around Kerala. It has a delightful settings - the grounds are gorgeous to wander through, the pool is one of the nicest I have ever experienced and you can walk straight onto the beach and into the Arabian Sea.
Each of the cottages are spacious with both inside and outside seating areas - we were overlooking the India Pond so able to enjoy the cormorants fishing and a not so shy hedgehog! There is ample space between cottages too so you always have a sense of privacy - the semi outdoor bathroom was a lovely addition too.
The resort has all you need to forget about the outside world (and we did) - an Ayurvedic Spa Centre which provided two of the best treatments I have had in a long time and the early morning yoga sessions were well worth getting up for.
Other activities available are the option to explore the grounds with Marari's inhouse naturalists - Vishnu, Anu and the rest of the team, were delightful and their enthusiasm for nature shone through. Looking for Owls (super cute) and taking a wander though the Butterfly Garden with them made the experience more rewarding.
The food - again - delightful - is it possible to eat badly in Kerala? I doubt it. The chefs serve up a great menu based on flavour rather than heat (although one Masala dish did catch me out!). The Beach Grill was worth a visit, as was the beach shack/bar for a great cocktail. Masala Tea is also served up at 4pm each day - a highlight for a tea lover like me!
The grounds are a real star of Marari but its the staff that really add to the experience. I'd very much like to return.
Marari Beach is a lovely relaxing resort set in extensive grounds. It feels very spacious. Large pool, comfortable villa accommodation with semi outside bathrooms and excellent food in restaurants. I don’t normally like buffets but very much enjoyed the selection of curries here. I’d thoroughly recommend the bird walk around the grounds (Owl Parliament) and the cookery demonstration.
There are lots of mosquitoes so take precautions.
I would have liked there to be a gym but otherwise a perfect stay.
If you enjoy natural lush green surroundings with beach side along with luxury and safety, this is the place to be. There are private villas and villas with private pools also. The entire property is green with different variety of trees, ponds and butterfly garden. You would enjoy bird watching here with the very talented naturalist Shibu. He knows where to find which bird, is an excellent nature enthusiast and photographer as well. I really enjoyed watching owls via telescope :) . The staff is friendly, food is also very good with a number of local dishes. One thing to note while giving a natural and earthy surrounding they have provided an open bathroom which may intimidate some. The place is also near to Alleppey and the staff will help you in booking boat tour for you if you like. Overall great experience. Highly recommended.
We loved our stay, the hotel, it’s grounds and staff are superb. We loved it all. It’s so well run and they really can’t do enough for you. The swimming pool is one of the best we’ve found, it was rarely busy and the pool staff were great, especially Eldo. You can get some lunch and beers or cocktails round the pool. Make sure you find time for the naturalist tours with Vishnu, Arun and Shibu - they are brilliant, we saw so much wildlife with their help; it’s clear that they love what they do and they are full of knowledge, they are an asset to the hotel. Our housekeeper Lijamol looked after us, leaving lovely plants and flowers at turndown. It was great to come back to our room each day and for it all to be tidied. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the beds are huge and we slept well. We also loved the outside/inside bathroom, it’s unusual. The hotel has remembered two important aspects of a room for travellers, these are often missing and it always annoyed me: towel hooks in bathroom and mirrors with well placed lighting. The laundry service was also good, we’ve never had such well ironed clothes. The breakfasts were lovely, beautiful omelettes and lots of choice. We are from the a la carte and it was always lovely. We sampled a cocktail or two at the beach shack where the barman is charming and friendly. We also had pizza there which was lovely! We used the push bikes to go to the village, it’s worth it just to speak to the locals who are keen to have a conversation . We also walked to the beach shacks nearby for lovely food at lunch. We could have stayed at the hotel for two weeks, 5 was not enough and we can’t wait to return. It was a joy!
A little piece of paradise, I wish we could have spent more time here. Swimming in the Arabian sea in the morning was awesome and we even saw dolphins. Sunset walks on the beach were so photogenic. A highlight was the time we spent with Shibu the resident naturalist whose professionalism and passion for wildlife was infectious. Don't miss his owl walk in the mornings. We also visited his garden (after a tuk tuk ride) and enjoyed an amazing time with so many different birds. Another memorable experience was lunching with local housewives who are working on a new project to share local food with guests. Try eating with your fingers from a banana leaf, it's delicious! This is a large complex and there is plenty of space so you never feel crowded. There is a big pool but we actually had our own so didn't use it much. The food was excellent, you could choose from a buffet or a la carte. Our only gripe was the price of the rather indifferent wine by the glass which was more expensive here than in the sister hotels.
