The worst Rotana property I've experienced

Review by surbhisibal

Being in lockdown over the past few months, we were really excited for our first staycation in 5 months. However, I was extremely disappointed to see (specially for a 5 STAR HOTEL):

  1. Outdated rooms & common areas: air conditioning was poor in the rooms- this was a big concern during the current weather conditions in UAE

2...

Poor hygiene: The fact that we are leaving our homes and staying in a hotel, we expected all hotels within UAE to have the utmost concern for health and safety for their own staff and visitors, however, the facilities were so dirty that it's almost impossible that hygiene is a concern to them at all

  1. Horrible and extremely expensive meals: Given the current situation of COVID-19, I do understand that a couple of restaurants within the hotel had to close down for the time being, however, they chose to close down all restaurants and only keep the fine dining restaurant open. That's fine, however, goodluck if you choose to stay here for more than one or two nights! The food tasted horrible and was extremely over priced. Expect spending a minimum of AED300 on average just for breakfast.

  2. Poor facilities: the room fridges don't work, for anyone :)

  3. THEY TRY TO CHARGE FOR ICE BUCKETS!

All in all, having been to a large amount of hotels all over UAE, it seemed extremely important to leave a comment on TripAdvisor about cove Rotana to save people the thousands they are going to spend. Although the resort has been beautifully built, it has been horribly maintained and we are so disappointed in this hotel been given a 5 star rating. Definitely would not visit there again until they make BIG changes!

Ok but not amazing

Review by 1976jamess Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Seems, at least in our opinion, the resort is struggling during covid, a lot of the drinks arent available, nothing on draft and some of the wines werent available that we asked for. Then at dinner our first choices of meals were also not available. Having said that the tenderloins we then chose were yummy and well presented.

Although the location had many restaurants only one is actually open, Bascilico, whilst a great evening dinner location it didn't make a 5-star breakfast experience, maybe understandable with covid but it doesn't compare to a normal 5 star breakfast you can have at other locations currently.

Most unusual is the lack of chilling in the adults pool, this was extremely hot at 38 degrees so meant everyone was at the kids pool, not quiet or relaxing and not very good for social distancing...

We went to the beach which was really quiet but the temperature of the sea was hot so hard to cool off.

The rooms were great and the resort is very pretty so its definatley a lovely location, the staff were trying hard and the approach taken to hygeine was very evident, well managed and couldn't be faulted.

Also don't try to checkin at 2pm even if the the online checkin app says 2pm as despite being quiet none of the rooms were ready until after 3 so lots of people were hanging around.

Nice weekend getaway

Review by eunyisung Emirate of Dubai, United Arab Emirates

It was my second time visiting for a weekend getaway. The resort is built like a small town. Romantic to walk around inside the resort, especially at night...

Of course you can simply call a buggy to take you to wherever you want to go. The pools are nice! The pool near to the main entrance has nice view and the temperature of the water is under control to be cool all the time. The other pool was nice also and no kids zone, but the water is as warm as a broth. It has long beach but wasn’t too impressive. Interior of the room isn’t special, and the room is bit smaller than other hotels in the similar price segment but clean. There is only one restaurant but the food quality was way under the standard for five star hotel.

Perfect One Night

Review by BrijoeT

My wife and I only stayed for a night a few days ago but it was worth it. The service was amazing and the Seaview we got from our Premium Room was exactly what we needed. I can't want to come back and next time, I'll make sure to stay for 4 or 5 days!
