The hotel is in a great location. Right on the beach and close to shops, bars and restaurants. Great poolside area too. Breakfast was same-same but passable. Rooms dingy and smelled like damp. Probably the A/C which was great.
Rooms were cleaned daily and complimentary bottle of water per guest daily (the cleaner was so lovely too) Only slept in there and to get ready so no biggie. No safe in the rooms, only at reception.
Room service food was lovely.
On more than one occasion, the waiter didn’t bring back change for the drinks. Also short changed at the ice-cream counter and challenged them about this but gave up with the argument in the end. It’s not so much the money ($1 here and there) but I don’t like that you can’t just trust that you’re being looked after as a guest, and that the staff are being honest. Felt like we constantly had to have our wits about us.
Sun beds were sparse so we mainly went to the beach. Despite the towel counter recording your room number when taking towels, you weren’t allowed to take them on the beds at the beach (there were 7 of us so it was the only way we could all sit together). I’d rather pay a deposit and be allowed to do so, as none of us took beach towels. So take sarongs and towels with you.
Definitely not a 4 star hotel, more a 3.
Only Negative : Rooms are a bit old and dated Pool tiles very slippery they need rubber matting , many people slipping over .
Staff awesome, rooms clean, beds and pillows great , top location right near beach, breakfast huge , restaurant’s meals brilliant , rooms cleaned daily . Nothing too much trouble , great price Highly recommend
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!
Please read all the other negative reviews – everyone had the same problems we did, and the same opinions about the rooms and hotel in general as we did.
Here is a list of things we encountered:
• Check In - We arrived at 1.30pm and was told that our room was not ready (check in was 2pm) no issues with this, but then we were made to pay for the room before they would check us in, then we went for some lunch in the restaurant and I asked for our room number to put our lunch against, they told us We don’t have a room for us yet !!!!! so why were we made to pay for it upfront!!!!!!!! – this should have been my first alarm bell - I have travelled all over the world and have been to Bali approx. 8 times and I have never been asked to pay for my stay before I have even seen the room - I now know why.
• Rooms - The rooms were disgusting, dirty, old, and dingy, we felt like we were in a dungeon. The first room they took us to was supposed to be a Deluxe Double Garden View room with a King Bed – It was a twin room that STUNK and our garden view was of the air conditioner. The photos are of the room we ended up with, after being shown 3 other discussing rooms so you can image what the rest of them were like if this was the ‘GOOD’ one. Water damage everywhere, stains on the walls, 1 light in the bedroom, wires hanging out of the wall, grime and dirt in every room. The shower leaked, from a hole in the hoes and from the head, it sprayed across the entire room, so everything got wet. And the sShower, Basin & Toilet didn’t drain
• Construction – The third last photo is of our outdoor sitting area – Looking up. Yup that is Bamboo scaffolding, not to mention we had numerous items fall and land where we would have been sitting if we were outside.
• Food – The food was eatable but not worth the money they charged. 20% service charge just to eat or drink at the hotel you are staying at. Elsewhere the service change was around 16%.
• Teaspoons – You couldn’t get a teaspoon at breakfast if your life depended on it and when I asked for one, I was told “No sorry mis no spoons”.
• Cleaning – the breakfast tables were all sticky and had stains / drink rings all over them (not one table but all of them) the floors were stained and dirty.
Reception Toilet – Photos are of the basin in the customer toilets in reception – WOW!!!!!!!!
• Smoking – I am a nonsmoker but have no issues with people smoking in designated areas. This hotel does not care where people smoke, we would be sitting at breakfast and all the tables around us would be smoking and they were mostly Australians, I thought we had more manners than that.
• Sewage Smell – the restaurant area and pool area stunk of Sewage
25 years ago my wife and I holidayed at the at the Jayakarta Beach Resort and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Late August/early September 2023 we planned a trip to Bali with our adult boys - 23/21/18 yrs and we decided to revisit the Jayakarta Beach Resort as part of our Bali holiday. For my wife and I it was a trip back in time as very little (if anything) has changed with the Resort, which was great. It's not five star, to the critical eye you will certainly find blemishes, but the service, location, food, security & gardens are bang on good value on in our opinion. Straight out the front across the road onto the beach for an early morning swim & walk along the boardwalk or an afternoon relax on the beach loungers with a cold Bintang beer or two, the sea is 50m away. Outside the main front gates at the opposite end the hustle and bustle of Legian shops/restaurants/markets/taxis is instant. Back at the Resort it is relaxed holiday mode where you can recharge by the pools from the busy busy that is Bali in the Legian Kuta area. We as a family had a blast at the Jayakarta Beach Resort, if you want the Hilton Hotel then this is not for you, if you want good value, an excellent location, great service and character then Jayakarta Bali might suit you well. Our whole family would love to go back next year. Thank you very much to the great staff of the Jayakarta Beach Resort!
We have stayed at the Jayakarta for many years and keep returning there, so to me that says it all. We dont spend a lot of time in our room, so we find the rooms perfect for our quiet times. The location is excellent, staff is very helpful & friendly, breakfast is great. To us its everything you need when visiting Legian.
