I stayed at the Explorar Hotel in Ko Samui, Surat Thani for a six-day from 28 Sept to 4 Oct. My assigned room 437, offered restricted ocean views despite my prior payment for a sea-view accommodation. The hotel's website photographs are misleading in this regard. Upon requesting a room commensurate with my paid reservation on the same day, I was relocated to room number 647 the following afternoon at approximately 3:00 PM. A significant concern involved the shower's water temperature, which fluctuated unpredictably between cold and excessively hot conditions, presenting a genuine safety hazard. The evening restaurant staff requires comprehensive training. During two dining experiences at the hotel restaurant, the server consistently responded to menu inquiries by stating her inexperience and requesting time to verify information. On 1st Oct - my birthday, I returned to the hotel at 7:30 PM following a full day of activities. After freshening up, I proceeded to the restaurant, where the same undertrained staff member informed me that only a buffet menu was available due to a special event, priced at 1,200 baht ++ When I declined the buffet option, she suggested ordering room service instead, explicitly stating I could not dine in the restaurant that evening. Despite repeatedly mentioning my birthday and my desire to dine in the restaurant with a personally selected meal, she continued apologizing while maintaining the restriction. Following my complaint to management regarding my deliberate choice of this hotel to celebrate my birthday in Koh Samui, and my reasonable expectation to be served in the restaurant with a dish of my selection, the delay in resolving the situation resulted in my loss of appetite. The hotel subsequently placed a small cake in my room and scattered confetti on my bed as a gesture during my absence's, which I returned to the reception desk. Additionally, staff member Dat demonstrated notably unprofessional behavior. I cannot recommend this hotel. customer service quality is terrible, a rating of 2 out of 10.
Thank you so much to Explorar Ko Samui staff for making my stay comfortable and memorable! I had the best time there, beautiful rooms, very clean, amazing garden and pool, the beach was unbelievable as well. The breakfast was nourishing and had a great variety in foods, from Asian to international. It was delicious! They also provide classes for guests free of charge, like cooking classes, yoga, Muai Thai which were all great fun. But the best part was the amazing staff, wach and everyone of them was an absolute angel and so skilled at their work! Thank you! 🙏

The staff are incredible and really look after you. The restaurant Odyssey serves amazing food and the resort itself is clean, well equiped and in a good location. There’s also lots of activities to get involved in like the mixology class with Ivan. He was great teaching us how to make a cocktail!
Would highly recommend this place.
