The Lantern Resorts Patong

I stayed here for 12 nights with my son in seperate rooms.He was on the third floor and i was on the ground floor. The ground floor was quite noisy to be fair. Let me start with the positives. The cleaning was exceptional they did a great job especially Neme who did my room every day. The staff on the front desk are very friendly,helpful and professional. Now the negatives.. Not enough sunbeds around the ground floor pools and no bar to order a drink or food/snacks. Upstairs pool very dated and boring. No bar. To the rear of the hotel if you have a back room overlooks a dumping ground. All this could be easily cleared up and made into a public area with a bar,pool tables,benches and sunbeds. The location is on top of a very,very busy street with lots of dangerous traffic and litter and bad smells everywhere. Now the worst bit there are huge rats in the area in front of the reception which come out in the day. This may be the reason that they loads of cats wandering around the hotel area. The free breakfast is on the second floor of the restaurant/cafe at the front of the hotel and is very poor. We went once and then avoided it for the rest of the holiday. Finally the whole exterior of the building could be freshened up with a lick of paint. Sadly we wont be returning.

We ended up staying at the Lantern Hotel unexpectedly after our original hotel booking — confirmed and paid via Booking.com — was not honoured on arrival. This meant we had to find accommodation at short notice in high season and unfortunately pay over twice what we had originally planned. That situation is currently being taken up with Booking.com and was not the fault of the Lantern Hotel.

Once we arrived, however, our experience at the Lantern was very positive. The hotel is right in the heart of Patong, with everything easily accessible, yet we had no issues at all with noise. Our room was comfortable and well maintained, and the Wi-Fi worked reliably throughout our stay.

Despite the stressful start to the day, we ended up having a very enjoyable stay here. The location, comfort and overall experience were excellent, and we would happily recommend the Lantern Hotel to others visiting Patong.

Wai the guy from receptionist he was so helpful and very understanding i can tell the he's one of the best people that have a good customer service skills. Room with balcony was great. And the price is affordable.
