Iceland Travel Advice

Entry requirements differ by country. The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office issues country specific travel advice including Health, Visa and Vaccination requirements.

Entry requirements:

  • Entry requirements: There are no COVID-19 related travel restrictions for Iceland. Entry requirements for Iceland are the same for all travellers, regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status or recovery status.
  • Entry requirements for children: There are no specific entry requirements for children and young people

Passport validity:

  • Your passport must be issued less than 10 years before the date you enter the country and valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave. Schengen area passport requirements.

Visa requirements:

  • General: You can travel to countries in the Schengen area for up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa. To stay longer, work or study, or for other reasons, you will need to meet Icelandic entry requirements.

Travel forms:

  • Proof of vaccination status: You don’t need to provide proof of your vaccination status for entry to Iceland.
  • Passport stamping: Check your passport is stamped if you enter or exit the Schengen area through Iceland as a visitor. You can show evidence of when and where you entered or exited the Schengen area, and ask the border guards to add this date and location in your passport.
  • UK Emergency Travel Documents: They are accepted for entry, airside transit, and exit from Iceland.

Tourism Tax: A tax of ISK 666 per room per night will become effective from January 1, 2024. The lodging tax will be collected directly at the time of check-in or check-out at the hotel. Please note: If you are travelling after the 1st November 2024, we have included this tax in the cost of your holiday. Therefor you will not need to pay anything upon arrival.
