Malta Travel Advice

Entry requirements differ by country. The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) issues country specific travel advice including Health, Visa and Vaccination requirements.

Entry requirements:

  • No specific entry requirements for Malta based on COVID-19 vaccination status
  • No specific requirements for children and young people

Passport validity

  • Issued less than 10 years before the date of entry to the country
  • Valid for at least 3 months after the planned departure date
  • Follow the Schengen area passport requirements

Visa requirements:

  • Visa-free travel for up to 90 days in any 180-day period as a tourist, visiting family/friends, attending business meetings, cultural or sports events, or for short-term studies/training within the Schengen area
  • Check with the Maltese High Commission for visas/permits for longer stays, work or study, and other reasons
  • Travel to Malta for work requires guidance on visas and permits
  • Residence permits or long-stay visas for stays in Malta do not count towards the 90-day visa-free limit

  • No Passenger Locator Form required for entry to Malta

COVID-19 related information

  • No need to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or negative test result for entry to Malta. More information on the Maltese Government website
