Portugal Travel Advice

FCDO Advice:

Entry requirements differ by country. The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office issues country specific travel advice including Health, Visa and Vaccination requirements.

Entry requirements:

  • Entry requirements: There are no COVID-19 vaccination, testing, or passenger locator form requirements for entry to mainland Portugal (Algarve), Madeira, and the Azores (source).
  • Entry requirements for children: Children aged 17 and under travelling to Portugal alone or with a non-parent/legal guardian must either be met at the airport/point of entry by their parent/guardian or carry a letter of authorisation from their parent/guardian (Portuguese government portal).

Passport validity:

-Passports must be issued less than 10 years before entering the Schengen area and be valid for at least 3 months after the planned departure date (Schengen area passport requirements).

Visa requirements:

  • General: UK citizens can travel to Schengen countries for up to 90 days within a 180-day period without a visa. For longer stays, work or study, or other purposes, you may need a visa or permit (check with the Portuguese Immigration Service and the Portuguese Embassy).

Travel forms:

  • Travel forms: No specific travel forms are required for entry to Portugal.
