Fed up with the muddy, rainy UK Music festivals? Here’s the definitive guide to the very best European Summer Music Festivals so why not go for a sunnier experience this summer and keep those wellies clean!

Isle of MTV

The first of our festivals is great if you are on a budget and going to this one might actually cost you less than a festival in the UK. Staying in Malta can be at a really very reasonable price, way less than a ticket to one of the home grown events, and the best part of the Isle of MTV festival is that the tickets are totally free, gratis, nothing to pay. Who could ask for more? The event takes place in Il Fosos Square, Valletta and it’s a pretty atmospheric venue. Previous performances have included some pretty big names including Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, N*E*R*D, One Republic, Maroon 5, Akon, Kid Rock, David Guetta, Metro Station, Snoop Dogg, LMFAO, Jesse J, will.i.am and Rita Ora amongst others.2016 will be the festivals 10th anniversary so it promises to be something really special. All this is fantastic and well worth the trip, but if you consider that you will also get a holiday in the sun and that the Isle of MTV concert is part of Malta Music Week, it promises to be a break full of fun and frolics.

Sunscape

Held on the island of Gozo, Malta, not only is the environment beautiful and sunny but there is so much more at this all-rounder of a music festival. You will find up to the minute electronic music with a friendly atmosphere but can also join workshops, do water sports such as water skiing and wake boarding, and there are talks and even an arts and crafts area for when you’re feeling like slowing down a little!

Arenal Sound

In previous years the Arenal Sound festival has proudly staged acts such as Orbital, Calvin Harris, The Kooks and the Scissor Sisters. This year expect to get to the front for Kodaline, TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB and the mighty The 1975! Tickets for the event are much cheaper than those you would find for a UK festival even when you calculate the price of a trip to Spain, making this a very worthwhile festival experience. Based at the Playa el Arenal in Burriana, Spain you really won’t regret this week of fun in the sun.

Low Festival

Benidorm is the place to be on the 29 · 30 · 31! This amazing outdoor festival even features two Olympic sized swimming pools, so you may need your wellies after all! Previously staged Kaiser Chiefs, Editors, Massive Attack and The Horrors, this year headlining the Kooks, it has earned quite a reputation for excellent music and an even better atmosphere! Expect no rain!

Arona Summer Festival

Every year Playa de las Americas in Tenerife is home to the Arona Summer Festival and has been an event for more than four years. This is a clubbers dream with many high profile international DJs performing with huge stars of the dance scene such as Armin Van Buuren and Steve Angello. Tickets are reasonably priced and you can enjoy a night of great music in the sun as part of your holiday. So, hands up everyone!

Lost and found

Malta is really racking up the great festivals this year with the first ever Lost & Found, which is a weekend event presented by Annie Mac. It’s held just outside Rabat and 2015 headliners Annie Mac, Carl Craig, Jamie Jones and Ten Walls get the vibe going. Look forward to the chilled-out dance marathon and amazing day time dance parties in the sun.
