Just wanted to let people know that this hotel has been closed since august 2020, many companies have sold holidays for this year , we were told 4 days before our wedding holiday that the hotel was closed , and Dubrovnik is full , hoping this doesn’t happen to anyone else On the Valamar club Dubrovnik there is no mention of this
We stayed at the Valamar Club for 1 week! The hotel and rooms were spotless. Rooms are basic however the size was ample for the 3 of us and we had a beautiful view of the pool. I found the food was excellent with a good choice every day and not repetative! The hotel is in an excellent location and only a short bus ride to Dubrovnik old town...
The only downfall was the cost of drinks in the hotel which were expensive if you wanted a short as they charged you for a single shot of vodka and then charged separately for your mixer, however this did not spoil our visit and we would return and recommend the hotel to anyone. The staff are extremely hard working and friendly.
We stayed there as part of our Croatian trip. It is not located downtown but if you walk about 200m you can take a bus that in 15-20 minutes get you there. Food was good considering it is a ll inclusive, service at the restaurants was not good. Extra long lines, too many minutes to make a simple pizza...
Overall, dinning/meals experience is average. Rooms are quite big but in need of some renovation. What is really good about this hotel is that they have both the pools and a very beautiful tiny beach called Copacabana just outside hotel gate. Also they offer daily activities, including in one of the nights they ha d a great rock concert by the pool with a local band, really great plus to the stay. Reception and concierge are quite confusing and unsure about date/time of hotel activities, but seem to be willing to help, what compensates a little bit.
The staff were excellent all week. Our room was spotless and large enough. We had a side view so could see the sea...
We found the room a little cold and had to use the blanket which we found in the wardrobe. No tea coffee making facilities in the room and as we were all inclusive light, you didn’t get anything outside of the dining room. This meant any extra coffees or drinks you wanted had to be paid for and they were quite expensive. The breakfast and lunch were fine, but we found the evening meals a bit repetitive come the last couple of days. The restaurant was cold, to the extent that some people were wearing their coats in. It was overcrowded and so noisy, I could not hear the person sat next to me. This made for a quick meal as we couldn’t stand the noise. The hotel seemed to be filled with large groups of french & German 70+ yr olds. Because there were so many people, trying to find a space in the bar area in the evening was impossible, so we gave up trying to go there. The area around the hotel is lovely with some fabulous walks. We walked to the left of the hotel to sunset beach, which was a beautiful walk. We visited Dubrovnik but it is best done when the cruise ships haven’t just offloaded their passengers. It is a beautiful city. We did a 3 island tour which was lovely and also took the boat over to Cavtat, which is a charming little place.
Firstly this is an ideal setting, beautiful grounds over the sea and only a short bus ride into the Old City of Dubrovnik. Room was basic, no tea/coffee facilities and no fridge. As we were part of a small group our room, on the 5th floor, only had a view of a tree! Didn't venture onto the balcony because of the 'mozzies'...
The chambermaid was a lovely girl, helpful with extra coat hangers, plenty of toileteries which were replaced daily as were the towels. Needed the air con in the room until late evening.
The breakfast buffet was 100% better than dinner. Lovely fresh pancakes, yogurts and fruits. Freshly made omelettes and plenty of tea. Dinner was a free for all. People aimlessly standing around trying to find a table, guests touching food? Didn't enjoy dinner experience. Although the staff were doing their best in what I think were trying circumstances. The noise was horrendous and the carvery which was supposed to be outside non existent.
Entertainment was a couple of quizzes and a singing duo. Limited seating in the evening in the bar area.
Dubrovnik is super however wouldn't return to this particular Hotel.
