Dubrovnik

This hotel is located on the coast of the picturesque Babin Kuk peninsula, just a few steps to the beach and 6 km from Dubrovnik old town. Dubrovnik Airport can be reached in half an hour drive away. The comfortable rooms offer all the amenities for an exciting and unforgettable holiday. Everyone will have fun at the hotel, with its sports programmes and leisure activities like aqua aerobics and morning gymnastics. The outdoor pool with sun loungers and parasols, and children's swimming area are perfect for a dip. The nearby sandy and pebble beach give guests the chance to try a range of water sports. Its proximity to the beaches, onsite facilities and meals with a wide range of Mediterranean specialties, all combine to make this the ideal holiday destination for the whole family.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Fantastic holiday experience

Review by Haydocklynn1 Liverpool, United Kingdom

Just arrived home after spending a week at this hotel. Approx. Half hour from Dubrovnik airport. Warmly welcomed on arrival...

The hotel is very clean and is located in a lovely area Babuk Kuk which is a 30 min bus ride from the old city.Bus stop 5 mins from the hotel. Hotel is located on the Adriatic Sea with beautiful views . Cruise ships pass by. Lovely coastal walks in the area. The staff here work very hard and aim to please.

The rooms are very adequate and are attended to daily. We were on half board plus meal plan that gives breakfast and evening meal. At evening meal beer wine soft drinks tea and coffee are included. There must be a choice of meal to suit all tastes and diets. Vast selection of buffet styled food. The food can be seen to be freshly cooked. Breakfast consists of cereals porridges breads fresh fruit yoghurt cooked food e.g. bacon eggs sausage Pancakes pastries Jams hummus vegetables cold meats and cheese. Evening meal contains fish chicken steak stews pizza soups salad bar selections of veg. Rices pasta selection of desserts e.g. cakes rice pud.fresh fruits ice creams and mousse. This list is by no means exhaustive. Selection of food is overwhelming and is of good quality. The dining room is spotlessly clean. The waiting staff are working all the time keeping used plates off the tables and are willing to help and advise if necessary. A waiter named Zlatan caught my attention. He was so helpful to elderly people in need and had great customer service skills. We took a day tour to Montenegro and one to Bosnia. Dining room opens at 7am but sometimes pick up for tours can be earlier. After speaking to reception staff the day before the tour a packed breakfast can be arranged. This hotel has exceeded my expectations We never go back to same venues but are wanting to revisit this hotel again.

Lovely Hotel in Great Location

Review by Bernie757 Coventry, United Kingdom

A group of 24 of us stayed at the hotel between 26 April and 3 May, 2022. We all had a wonderful time and thought very highly of the hotel and its staff. (we were aged 50+, but there was a wide range of age groups at the hotel) In contrast to "Brian O S" review below - who had poor weather when they went, we experienced just the opposite...

For 6 out of our 7 days the weather was fantastic, warm enough to sunbathe and go into the pool, and long-sleeved shirts/jumpers were put back into the suitcase....although it did go colder and windier into the evening. The hotel is in a superb location - fairly quiet but close enough to Dubrovnik via bus (about £1.50) or taxi (£11 for 4 people). The views from sea view rooms and the various terraces are outstanding. The hotel itself is very clean and tidy, with rooms having a free safe. We had the semi-inclusive option (full board plus drinks at meal times) and this worked well. There was always a decent choice at the restaurant and the food was good quality and cooked well. We experienced little in the way of queuing for food or drinks. The pool area was terrific with a huge pool surrounded by loungers, parasols and chairs (all free). As it was in the off season, only about 10% of the loungers were ever used. Outside of our included drinks, drinks at the bar were fairly reasonably priced (about £4 for 500ml beer or £3.40 for a premium short, such as Martell brandy or Jameson whiskey....local spirits were cheaper). There was little difference between the prices at the hotel and outside bars. A special mention to Susana in the Bar, who kept us supplied with drinks in such a cheerful manner. There were lots of nice walks you could undertake from the hotel - going in either direction. There was a small shopping precinct about 10 mins walk away where there are a number of shops and 3 or 4 bars/restaurants (out of the hotel front door and turn right where the steps begin. Follow the path ahead until you come to a small flight of stairs. Go up stairs and you'll see a plaza on the right. Go across the plaza and you come to the precinct). We particularly liked the Cafe Bistro Garden. Would we recommend this hotel? Definitely - we thought both the location and the board arrangements were perfect. There was a wide range of age groups and nationalities at the hotel. If you want a bit more action you could try the area of Lapad, which was very attractive, had a lot more hotels and shops / bars etc, but it did feel quite busy and more touristy. We booked our group holiday directly with the Hotel group, Valamar. They were very helpful with the booking and arranged transfers for us.

Decent enough 3 star hotel

We visited as a family of four in early season (April); a family would probably have a better experience than us in high season when the unheated outdoor pool is usable, the facilities at the adjacent Copacabana beach are open, and the kids club and other hotel guest activities are likely to be up and running. During our visit it seemed that the hotel catered mostly for large tour groups, that arrived late afternoon and departed early the next morning. While the hotel put up posters about kids club and other activities for guests, none of these ever seemed to happen, and the reception staff were clueless about it...

In spite of the above the hotel is still fairly OK. The bedrooms are small, but as a family we had two inter-connecting rooms, which is a nice set up. The food in the restaurant was fine for us, we are not fussy eaters, but I have definitely come across worse in other hotels. The restaurant was busy at times and you had to queue for food. The location of the hotel is fantastic with views out to the Adriatic sea, and next to a nice coastal walking path. Also the number 6 bus to central Dubrovnik is very handy. There is also a tourist drag within 15 minutes walk from the hotel where you can soak up the atmosphere in the cafes, arrange boat trips at the stalls, sit out on a beach etc.

Front of house restaurant and lobby bar holding this hotel in the average place

Review by Rustydancer Enniscorthy, Ireland

Bathroom very small, if you had any mobility issue forget this hotel. Rooms basic, bed comfortable and room cleaned daily and towels replaced, if you wish. Top marks...

Check in very prompt and organised at reception. Better rate of exchange there too. ATM on site with extra charges. Service by the gent in the bar, non existent. Badly needs training. Needs to realise that the customer is key not loading the dishwasher. Stocks abysmal and need to be replenished daily. One word chaos. Dark haired girl in bar excellent, good eye contact smiles and chat. Now the restaurant, if you could call it that. Food cold all the time. No food at all on two breakfast occasions, 7.10 am and 9.30. Plates cold. Fruit salad is fruit salad not apple and raw melon. No choice of black tea, Indian only. I tried omelette and fried eggs, fresh and tasty.. breads good. Not such a choice in the restaurant that we were directed too. PUT breakfast times on view and don’t clear away before that. Evening menu— Chips or fries were very good. Limited choice of meat, chicken mostly. Very disappointed with fish dishes. My friend commented on lack of sauces with dishes. We didn’t bother eating in the “restaurant “ on four nights. We couldn’t take the stampede of people and poorly organised tables. The wine waiter with the beard will go far. Very few smiles down there. A team of people who are trained properly need to go in and observe, then serve the staff and show them how it is done. A smile always goes a long way.
