San Anton is a beautifully picturesque resort situated in the centre of the island of Malta. Considered one of the most upmarket resorts on the island, the small town of San Anton has become popular with holidaymakers looking for that little something extra from their holiday.
The climate is typically Mediterranean, similar to that of Southern Italy or Southern Greece. In the summer there is up 12 hours of sunshine a day. Summers tend to be dry and hot, while winters tend to be wet and cold. The minimum temperature in January is 10°C, while in June it is 29°C.
If you like to go on holiday when it is very warm then you are best opting for the summer months, from May-August. Bear in mind, though, that San Anton can also make for a pleasant break from cold winters in more western countries too.
The main attraction of a San Anton holiday is the San Anton Palace and Gardens, formerly a mansion for the 'Grand Master Antoine de Paule' and now the residence of the Maltese president, which is located directly opposite the hotel. The stunning botanical gardens of the palace are an attraction for tourists and locals alike and are well worth a visit.
Although not by the sea, sun-seekers considering a San Anton holiday need not worry as the Corinthia Palace offers a courtesy bus to its sister hotels on the seafront of St Julian's and guests have free access to the Lido facilities located there throughout their holiday.
There are various restaurants nearby with cuisines to suit all tastes, including European, Mediterranean, Italian, British, Irish and more! Some worth mentioning are; The Corner Cafe St Paul’s Bay, SALT- Kitchen and Lounge, Made in Sud and Altavilla.
There are a number of pubs, not far from San Anton, where visitors can enjoy a bit of nightlife. Try Whyte Barte Bar and The Owls Nest Inn for a lively atmosphere and tasty beverage.
St Mary's Parish Church is a must-see while in San Anton. It’s nearly 400 years old and is one of the best examples of renaissance architecture on the Maltese archipelago.
Looking for a unique diving experience? You won’t be short of one near San Anton! A few diving hot spots to look out for are Malta Diving, Anchor Diving, One Breath Freediving and Scubatech Diving Centre. If you prefer a more relaxing excursion, Mai Thai Spa Health and Beauty might be the perfect daytrip for you.
Bus services are popular and great value near San Anton. It is also possible to get to a number of attractions on foot. You can, of course, hop in a taxi. Flights arrive regularly at Malta International Airport. From here, your best option is to travel via bus to Bugibba.
