Vale do Lobo is located in the Algarve and is the first part of the 'Golden Triangle of the Algarve', which makes up the most affluent tourist area of the Algarve. Vale do Lobo is one of the first tourist resorts to be built in Portugal, which was a forest resort with a sandy beach and a number of villas and townhouses were constructed for tourists in the early 1960s.
Vale do Lobo is known as a Golf resort and has two separate Golf courses in the area. The resort has hosted the Portuguese Open twice in the early 2000s. There are plenty of beaches to relax by as well as markets, piers and watersports, including parasailing.
