The bustling, vibrant Playa de las Americas is one of Tenerife's most popular resorts. It's got the sun and the sand, all the sights to see and views to snap, all the shops by day and entertainment by night. No wonder that people are drawn here – and to hotels like the Columbus Aparthotel. Like Playa de las Americas, the Columbus Aparthotel has got it all. All the amenities, all the facilities, and all the high standards you'd expect of one of the region's most popular hotels.
When you're a mere 800 metres from the beach, you know you're going to be spending a lot of time there. And that's just one of the perks of staying at the Columbus Aparthotel. Another is your close proximity to the heart of Playa de las Americas, and all that it has to offer including shops, bars and restaurants, and of course, the nightlife (Plays de las Americas is famous for it). But the Columbus Aparthotel is much more than a base for dipping in and out of the action. There's more than enough to keep you entertained…
One of the biggest features of the Columbus Aparthotel is undoubtedly the superb arrangement of swimming pools. Divided into distinct sections, the pool 'complex' is a beautiful design feature as well as a great place to spend a few hours… maybe even a long afternoon, drifting into evening.
That's another wonderful thing about the Columbus Aparthotel – the very laidback attitude to life. Outside in Playa de las Americas, it's all hustle and bustle, but here in the grounds of the Columbus, it's all long afternoons by the pool and long cool drinks. And talking of relaxing. Do check out the sauna and Jacuzzis. There's still plenty more to the Columbus Aparthotel: a handy on-site mini market, laundry facility and games room for example. The Columbus Aparthotel also benefits from generously sized rooms – and larger rooms (with lounges) are available if you wish. Satellite TV is also available for a small fee.
Choose the Columbus Aparthotel and you'll enjoy all the excitement of Plays de las Americas and the laidback vibe of the Columbus Aparthotel. It's the perfect combination.

The popular Columbus Aparthotel is enviably located in the bustling beach resort of Playa de las Americas, just 800 metres from the beach and close to many shops, restaurants and bars. The main restaurant offers a variety of international cuisine whilst the bar is the perfect place to relax overlooking the pool.
Well where to start. This hotel is located in the lively area of Playa de las Americas, so as expected there is a vibrant atmosphere spreading across all floors of this hotel. As expected if you've come away for a peaceful, relaxing holiday this area/hotel probably isn't for you! Staff on front desk were helpful, especially the guy patrolling the reception in the day - lovely man. This is in stark contract to General Blarto who works the night shift, patrolling every corner of the hotel with his iron fist...
If I hadn't have paid for this holiday then every time I came through reception, I would have thought I'd entered an audition for Worlds toughest prison guards.
Staff on the bar pleasant as always, always cracking smiles having a laugh lol JK.
Food was average at best, probably wouldn't go all inclusive here again as I ate out more than in here. Although shout out to the person on the toasties and chips throughout the day - they were top tier.
Big downside of this hotel is the wait to get a drink. One person working on the bar at once just meant you were waiting almost 15 minutes for a drink at times. Bit annoying when all you want is a cup of water. If your looking for recommendations maybe make a self service bar with dispensable drinks for guests, saves all the queuing and agitated customers.
Great week tho, would stay again - SIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Good hotel, good facilities but Rubbish food and miserable staff. Mainly Sue behind the bar and Pablo Blarto the security guard. Sue needs to learn some manners and smile and remember she works behind a bar serving drinks and a cracking toastie to be honest and doesn’t own the place...
Blarto needs to relax a bit and have a good kip on the night shift like regular folk. Jenny Pritchard with her arthritis was well looked after and hooker crunch was always entertaining with his mucka taff. All in all decent hote and would stay again
Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Columbus hotel for 10 days. I must say it is a very clean environment and first impressions walking in is it’s a beautiful hotel. I would say it’s not a family place to stay, it’s full of couples and young adults enjoying lads/ girls holidays...
We stayed while on the amber list, so there weren’t much entertainment which isn’t the hotels fault, so some days we would be a little bored in the hotel but it’s the perfect place to relax and get some sun. At night time there was a lot of banging, doors slamming, people screaming and arguing which did wake us up a few times every night. And the fire alarm would randomly go off early hours in the morning.
We stayed all inclusive which was handy for the free drinks & snacks such as toasties, chips etc. The all you can eat buffet was not our cup of tea. We ended up eating out every night of our holiday. The food was very bland & stale (obviously it’s a buffet, it’s been stood there) but don’t let this put you off, a couple of people were saying how gorgeous the food is, but me and my partner just preferred eating out and having a freshly cooked meal. If I came back again I would 100% go self catering and I think going all inclusive ended up being a big waste of money for us.
The staff were quite rude and miserable (especially behind the reception and bar). Did not understand why but we didn’t take it too personal as I’ve read other reviews saying this. Life guards also very rude and blunt felt like nobody could have a laugh! We probably would choose somewhere else next time. Not because we hated it but for a different experience! A couple of years ago I stayed at marola portosin if anyone is looking for a nice quiet hotel not to far from the strip - that is the one!!
Myself and my friend have just come back from 5 nights and we can’t believe how much nicer the hotel was than expected. After reading previous reviews, to say we were concerned is an understatement so we couldn’t believe our luck when we arrived.
Check in was easy and we had a room away from the main pool area which was a great thing as we didn’t hear half as much noise as people complain about on here...
Room was spacious and the bathroom looked brand new with towels changed most days and rooms cleaned regularly (Room 264)
Pool area was nice and mostly clean other than people not throwing their cups and plates away. Loungers wasn’t the easiest to get but there was a private pool area at the back of the hotel with additional loungers and kept you away from the noise in the main pool area.
I won’t pretend the hotel wasn’t rowdy because it can get that way, but what do you expect when you book a hotel 5/10 mins from the main strip?
The food was good, not incredible but we never went hungry! My friend is pretty fussy and she had a full plate every day. It was also great that they did sugar free drinks on tap which can sometimes be difficult to find.
Staff were all very kind and welcoming, there was sometimes a queue to get drinks as there is only 1 person on the pool bar but this didn’t affect the holiday. They also offered 2 cocktails each day which we didn’t realise for the first couple of days so check with the bar staff (mainly pink gin, SOTB etc)
It was a shame that the spa, entertainment, sports bar etc wasn’t open but this isn’t really the hotel’s fault as this came down to Covid rules.
The security made sure everyone walking through the hotel was wearing a mask and everyone was temperature checked before check in which made you feel safe.
My recommendation would be more tables in the evening near the pool area. If you go for a dinner after 7/7:30pm, it became difficult to get a table to have a few drinks in the evening especially if there is large groups in the hotel.
Overall this was a much better holiday than we were expecting, the food was good, staff accommodating and rooms clean and spacious.
It did get loud by the pool but everyone was enjoying themselves. There was a large range of people of all ages. If you are looking for something quiet and relaxed, this may not be the hotel for you, but I’m not sure any hotel in Playa de Las America’s would be any different.
Reviews no where near as bad as people made out would probably stay again.
Overall lovely stay with friends. Nice hotel, decent location. Food not the best...
Staff on reception very rude Security guard in the night (heard people calling him Blarto) and also Sue on the bar not the happiest of women. Rooms clean tho and pools not bad. Would definitely stay there again.
