Playa de Las Americas

The bustling, vibrant Playa de las Americas is one of Tenerife's most popular resorts. It's got the sun and the sand, all the sights to see and views to snap, all the shops by day and entertainment by night. No wonder that people are drawn here – and to hotels like the Columbus Aparthotel. Like Playa de las Americas, the Columbus Aparthotel has got it all. All the amenities, all the facilities, and all the high standards you'd expect of one of the region's most popular hotels.

Columbus Aparthotel is beach adjacent, and choc-full of amenities:

When you're a mere 800 metres from the beach, you know you're going to be spending a lot of time there. And that's just one of the perks of staying at the Columbus Aparthotel. Another is your close proximity to the heart of Playa de las Americas, and all that it has to offer including shops, bars and restaurants, and of course, the nightlife (Plays de las Americas is famous for it). But the Columbus Aparthotel is much more than a base for dipping in and out of the action. There's more than enough to keep you entertained…

One of the biggest features of the Columbus Aparthotel is undoubtedly the superb arrangement of swimming pools. Divided into distinct sections, the pool 'complex' is a beautiful design feature as well as a great place to spend a few hours… maybe even a long afternoon, drifting into evening.

That's another wonderful thing about the Columbus Aparthotel – the very laidback attitude to life. Outside in Playa de las Americas, it's all hustle and bustle, but here in the grounds of the Columbus, it's all long afternoons by the pool and long cool drinks. And talking of relaxing. Do check out the sauna and Jacuzzis. There's still plenty more to the Columbus Aparthotel: a handy on-site mini market, laundry facility and games room for example. The Columbus Aparthotel also benefits from generously sized rooms – and larger rooms (with lounges) are available if you wish. Satellite TV is also available for a small fee.

Choose the Columbus Aparthotel and you'll enjoy all the excitement of Plays de las Americas and the laidback vibe of the Columbus Aparthotel. It's the perfect combination.

Winter sun at the Columbus

This is our 2nd stay at the Columbus, this time in a 1 bedroom self catering apartment (Previously a studio flat). The apartment size is comfortable for us (2adults & baby) although could be cramped for anymore. The hotel provided a travel cot which they set up in the living room, with a double sofa bed, but we chose to move the travel cot into the bedroom although this left us with little walking space in the bedroom. The travel cot is acceptable but if it was my own at home I’d have replaced it due to wear & tear. Air con is in the living room & bedroom but we struggled to figure out how it worked although we didn’t really try for very long as it wasn’t really needed this time of year. Instructions would have been useful for the hotter months. Microwave, kettle and toaster all provided in good condition and there is a small tv in the living room, although the batteries in the controller didn’t work, we did manage to find quite a lot of English channels when using the controls on the actual TV. Good size modern shower room with hair drier available. Shower gel and hand soap dispenser’s there but were empty. The maids visit daily and do a great job. Fresh towels daily and beds made. I did notice they didn’t change the cot sheet although this isn’t a problem and I did it myself with spare sheets. Pool area clean and this time round plenty of available sun beds but on our visit in May sunbed availability was an issue. The pool area seems mainly shaded but there is a sun terrance if you don’t mind not being next to the pool. There is 2 main pools, a shallow baby pool and a spa/whirl pool. The pools were cold and with them being in the shade on this visit we struggled to use them. The bar had a good selection of branded and local spirits, beers and soft drinks. Prices seemed steep but to be expected. There is also a snack bar serving fresh pizzas, pasta, baguettes ect Reception was busy when we arrived but the gentleman working was helpful and check in went smooth. One evening we locked ourselves out of our room and reception gave us a new card after telling them our room number, no other questions were asked which did concern us slightly because of security, but we were happy to get back in our room quick. Location is good, there’s a near by super market and a few bars, about a 15minute walk to the main strip/seafront. The walk back is slightly uphill so when we were feeling lazy we got a taxi which cost €4. The main thing that disappointed us were the beds seemed really uncomfortable but luckily our 8month old baby doesn’t let us stay in bed for too long anyway!! We had a room facing the street which gave us entertainment watching from the very spacious balcony in the evening, you could potentially see the sea in the far distance on a clear day. Overall we were happy with our stay for the second time and would recommend and come again.

Great hotel but far too noisy.

This is a really great hotel. We came for some winter sun which was great. The hotel itself is lovely it’s a shame that the experience is ruined by the guests it seems to attract. People Running and screaming down the corridors at all ours after their return from the nightclubs. The staff don’t seem to enforce any rules of unruly people which is not great. The large hotel was quite full so it was always busy everywhere. We did not go all inclusive so luckily we could mostly go out. There is a small pool away from the madness of drunk people which is nice and quiet. One thing I would recommend is a toiletry bag which hangs. There isn’t a lot of space to store toiletries in the bathroom. The rooms are really nice and spacious with comfy beds and nice views from the balcony.

Amazing!

Enjoyed this trip so much, the hotel is so clean and many pools, many places to sun bathe around the hotel. I had my birthday here and have loved it, staff on bar and reception are so friendly. Food was good quality and many choices so if you are a picky eater like my boyfriend you will definitely find something to eat! Beds are so comfy and was changed every day to a high quality. Would come back! ( cleaners even cleaned out our ashtray which my boyfriend thought was lovely 🤣
