Playa de Las Americas

The bustling, vibrant Playa de las Americas is one of Tenerife's most popular resorts. It's got the sun and the sand, all the sights to see and views to snap, all the shops by day and entertainment by night. No wonder that people are drawn here – and to hotels like the Columbus Aparthotel. Like Playa de las Americas, the Columbus Aparthotel has got it all. All the amenities, all the facilities, and all the high standards you'd expect of one of the region's most popular hotels.

Columbus Aparthotel is beach adjacent, and choc-full of amenities:

When you're a mere 800 metres from the beach, you know you're going to be spending a lot of time there. And that's just one of the perks of staying at the Columbus Aparthotel. Another is your close proximity to the heart of Playa de las Americas, and all that it has to offer including shops, bars and restaurants, and of course, the nightlife (Plays de las Americas is famous for it). But the Columbus Aparthotel is much more than a base for dipping in and out of the action. There's more than enough to keep you entertained…

One of the biggest features of the Columbus Aparthotel is undoubtedly the superb arrangement of swimming pools. Divided into distinct sections, the pool 'complex' is a beautiful design feature as well as a great place to spend a few hours… maybe even a long afternoon, drifting into evening.

That's another wonderful thing about the Columbus Aparthotel – the very laidback attitude to life. Outside in Playa de las Americas, it's all hustle and bustle, but here in the grounds of the Columbus, it's all long afternoons by the pool and long cool drinks. And talking of relaxing. Do check out the sauna and Jacuzzis. There's still plenty more to the Columbus Aparthotel: a handy on-site mini market, laundry facility and games room for example. The Columbus Aparthotel also benefits from generously sized rooms – and larger rooms (with lounges) are available if you wish. Satellite TV is also available for a small fee.

Choose the Columbus Aparthotel and you'll enjoy all the excitement of Plays de las Americas and the laidback vibe of the Columbus Aparthotel. It's the perfect combination.

Worst experience, poor services

This was our worst hotel experience yet. The service was horrible, food was terrible, and the hotel itself was poorly maintained. The beds were uncomfortable, it broke once and my partner tried fixing it since it was in The middle of the night and we were tired of complaining...

When you take a shower you have to watch out not to flood the whole bathroom. The walls of the rooms are so thin, you can hear everything that’s happening outside. And i mean even a slight whispering in the hallways. We once got stuck in the elevators. and the doors will hit you. Normally when you step in front of a closing elevating in will automatically open. Well this one will continue to close up on you. We could have only stayed 1 night in this nightmare and we had to leave. The only good thing was the manager. I’m not sure if that was the reservation manager or the GM. But he was the only hospitable staff member there. He was kind enough to want to upgrade our stay. But for us it was all the above mentioned factors that played a role in the decision to cancel our trip.

Just when u though we’ve been through enough. For our “luck” after we checked out ,we forgot our coats in the room and had to come back for it. Normally i don’t like calling out staff members and unfortunately i don’t remember this front desk clerk name. But it was a blonde haired clerk that told us to wait because it will take a while for them to check if the coats are there. We waited about 20-30 min. And she told us the coats were not there. Which made no sense, we were 100% certain that it was there. So i asked to look in the room myself, since we know exactly were we left them. But i was denied because they already had new people in the room. I already knew this was a lie since it was morning time and the check-in starts at 14.00 At this point we were fed up and My partner decided to take measures into his own hands and went up to the room, got a house keeping clerk to help us out. And got our coats. The room was exactly as we left it and the front desk lady did not even made an effort to get our coats back. Because the houskeeping lady did not even receive a request to check the room. With that, I can only conclude that the front desk clerk did this on purpose.

Before booking this hotel i saw negative reviews, but i choose to ignore them compared to all the good reviews. But i was so wrong! If you have care for service and quality. This hotel is not for you.

Good hotel but running at reduced capacity for some reason!

Review by Buckogasman Kingston-upon-Hull, United Kingdom

Just spent a week here over the New Year. Unfortunately the pools are cold and only a single small one receives any sunshine, which warms it to a usable level. The main pools and sunbed area are almost totally shaded during the Winter, although there are sun beds available at the rear of the building which gets the sun most of the day...

The staff are nice and try their best for you. The ‘All Inclusive’ drinks are locally sourced and are pretty poor although the larger is acceptable. The food isn’t the best but pretty average for (AI) hotels in Spain. We ate out most of the time just to test our taste buds were still working. Rooms are great and cleaned daily by friendly cleaners. The evening entertainment is not great either however, a visit from Loro Park’s parrots is worth a watch. The Spa, Gym and Burger Bar were all closed throughout. I would happily return to this hotel again (in Summer months) but would never bother with All Inclusive. Maybe Bed & Breakfast next time as the breakfasts were the best of all sittings. A couple of Irish Bars within 2 minutes walk are well worth a visit.

Good experience

Other than check in being a little bit later than expected, room was perfect for a couple. The utilities in the room came in handy a few nights! Nice balcony. Staff and location were nice also!

Location was good if you don’t mind walking a little bit!

Staff are awful!!

Review by carriemW7045RD Glasgow, United Kingdom

My boyfriend & I stayed here on 1st Dec 21 for a few nights. Was my 2nd time here. The hotel itself is lovely, the new rooms are nice & have plenty facilities...

It is a noisy hotel mind you & the shower floods the full bathroom!! The staff are the worst thing about this hotel though. They are unwelcoming, not friendly & create a horrible atmosphere.
When we arrived we were given zero information on anything about food, facilities, entertainment, nothing. This was our first holiday since covid & it was daunting so to walk into that kind of reception at the hotel it was awful. My partner needed a Doctor to the room on our 2nd day & the Woman at reception looked at me like I had the plague!! No one asked was it an emergency or was he ok. Nothing. I was told she’d call him & sent away. The Doctor did come mind you & he was amazing 🙌🏼!! There was also no lockable cupboard or shower facilities for when you have an early check out & later flight. Wasn’t told this either or we’d have booked late checked out. All staff should be given training on how to be more friendly & welcoming!!
