Jumeirahs hidden gem

Review by O4861YNtimb Warwickshire, United Kingdom

My wife and i recently stayed at the Mina Salam for a birthday celebration.

The location is superb, the rooms spacious and comfortable and the service second to none.

Having stopped in a few of Dubais hotels this is the number one.

Prepare to receive the worst treatment

Our recent visit to Mina A’Salam, in particular to Hanaaya restaurant has become an unpleasant experience. We are currently staying in Al Qasr hotel and are on half board, so we decided to have dinner there as a part of our meal plan. However the employee Melidiona made sure we left it with the most upset state...

I have to mention that overall food quality has significantly decreased recently and the lack of variety makes it difficult to be fully satisfied with meals. The same problem we have experienced in AlQasr’s main restaurant, and we hoped we could enjoy our dinner in Mina A’Salam more. Although the food selection is better in Hanaaya, we couldn’t eat properly and barely got any food, since the restaurant was hosting a large corporate group.

When we were leaving, my mom took a few gummy bears wrapped in a paper tissue. Melidiona thought this was enough crime to make rude comments toward my mom and even start a verbal fight with her. When I addressed her inappropriate behavior, she decided to gaslight us, stating that she was doing her job. Does her job require her to be aggressive and even demonstrate an offensive attitude towards guests?

If it weren’t for the sweetest hostess, Tamara, I feel Melidiona wouldn’t stop making aggressive remarks toward us. Tamara seems like she is the only one who cares about the guests there.

I guess this kind of attitude goes throughout the all hotel staff since during my last in the hotel in November 2020, I faced theft and nobody seemed to care. In particular, the incident happened on one of the afternoons during my stay and when I left my room and went to the beach.

That day I ordered room service for the breakfast and paid the amount in cash, and got the change back in 200 bills. I took the difference and put it into my evening clutch, which I left on a table next to my vanity items. When I returned to my room, the housekeeping had finished the daily cleaning, and everything seemed normal. I realized that I was missing some money later when I headed out to dinner.

I took the same purse and looked for the amount of cash there and realized instantly that the few 200 bills that I had put in there in the morning were gone. I called the housekeeping and asked them if they had seen some money in the room, and what they said had shocked me. One of the guys denied that he had seen anything, and the other got too nervous and let it slip that he hasn’t seen 400 dhrs anywhere. And at that point, I hadn’t mentioned to anyone how much I was missing. I asked them how they were aware of the missing amount, and they couldn’t answer my questions just got nervous and left the room.

Later I called security, and a french lady manager (unfortunately, I don’t remember her name) came to the room, asked me about the incident in detail, and assured me they would do everything they could.

After three days of what they called the investigation, they stated they couldn’t find anything on CCTV and said they would deduct 400 dhrs from my final bill. That’s it. No apologies, even. As if nothing ever happened.

Our recent stay in Al Qasr has become our worst possible experience which made me write about all that I have faced in Jumeirah hotels throughout my stays in the past years. We have been coming back to Jumeirah hotels despite the sad incidents only for the beautiful beaches, since the resort has the best location but the great shoreline can not be compensating for horrible treatment anymore. Now I am convinced that these hotels just don’t care.

Just. Perfect

We have visited Dubai on many occasions and we not consider anywhere other than Jumeirah

From the management down to the guys on the beach and housekeepers, everyone is onhand to ensure that you feel special and that you have an amazing experience.

We love that fact that every time we visit there is something new and Jumeirah are constantly evolving and improving the customer experience.

We chose a Club Room which had a stunning view of the Burj and over to the Palm...

We could not have been happier with the service offered by the team in the Amal Lounge. The breakfast, afternoon tea and evening drinks with canapes were exceptional. Special thanks to Almarina for her genuine warmth and wonderful service, to Shambu for his amazing cocktails, for Andrea in engaging in football chat and last but not least to Omar. Here is a young man with a natural affinity for hospitality and the ability to see exactly what his customers need. Nothing was too much trouble for the team in the Amal Lounge and they are a credit to Jumeirah

Thank you all for your kindness and hospitality and we look forward to seeing you all again soon Karen & Paul
