We have stayed at this resort many times before, always in the Palace Gold Club which is brilliant. Unfortunately due to the ongoing renovations and closure of the Palace when we arrived at end of September, we were 'upgraded' to the Residence and Spa. Firstly the positives - the rooms are lovely and big and the pool is amazing where we were looked after brilliantly by Akshay, Amilla and Chanuka...
Jason on reception was always helpful with a true personal touch and we were looked after well at breakfast in the Dining Room by Nisa and colleagues. On the negative side, we were let down by inconsistent service in the library for both afternoon tea and evening drinks, and the biggest issue being the party boats that moor up just off the beach directly adjacent to the Residence and Spa playing load music sometimes from lunchtime through into the early hours. Admittedly this is beyond the Hotel's control and they have managed to stop the jet skis which have been a nuisance in the past, but this does have a detrimental impact to the peace and tranquility of the pool area is the afternoon and to being able to sleep at night. The problem is worst at the weekends where they can be upwards of 50 boats at a time all playing their own music and partying loudly.... This noise issue doesn't appear to be a problem experienced in the Palace as the boats aren't allowed to moor past the Jetty.
Thankfully, the Palace opened on the 1st of October and as we had originally booked Gold Club we were able to use these facilities for our complimentary evening drinks and Canapes from 6-8pm. Being in the Gold Club for us is a home from home - Prisca and team as always are superb, with special mention to Joseph, and Jatin who were super attentive, engaging and fun and never left us with empty glasses.....Gold Club in the evening is a special atmosphere where guests naturally interact and have fun.
We stayed in the residence and Spa side of the royal mirage, and i can honestly say it was the best hotel we have stayed in. Its no secret that Dubai is known for great service but this hotel is a different league. The hotel its self is Beautiful with a fantastic choice of restaurants and Pools, the rooms are fantastic and food is delicious, but the Staff really do go above and beyond to look after their guests all whilst being so warming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble...
A special mention to Hamzar who regularly looked after us. We will definitely be returning as soon as we can. Thank you so much For making our holiday so special
