The resort is nice. I’m not horribly upset by updates or lack of, I just want to be comfortable. That being said the lobby was nice, big and pretty. Not the best I’ve seen not the worst. My room was basic, no pictures, no warm and fuzzies. The air conditioning did not keep up. I could feel other rooms air coming out from below the door as I passed and it was amazing. My room was a steady 77-78. I asked for a fan and did complain. They sent someone to check but I never heard anything else. It was still miserable in there. Two free bottles of water everyday but no snacks, no coffee in the room. Ice buckets but couldn’t find the ice machine anywhere. No fridge. No hammock on the balcony. Did have a great view of the sunset (I picked the lagoon view just for this reason) One elevator was broken the whole time the other was sketchy at best and completely broke one evening. Walking up and down to the 5th floor was completely crazy. The food was horrible. Breakfast was the best and I had the same thing everyday. French toast and fruit. The day I did have the buffet for lunch I couldn’t figure out what I was eating. Was is supposed to be hot or cold? Wasn’t sure. I was very upset about the food. I had the sushi place twice. Way too much rice. I picked it apart. I didnt understand the menu, probably my bad. I guessed and ordered the meuchi rocoto and some sushi rolls. It took so long for the meuchi rocoto to come after the sushi I completely forgot I ordered it and almost left. Glad she stopped me because it was the best thing I ate the whole trip. I ordered room service one night nachos and cheese cake. Woke up at 3am vomiting. The entertainment started at 9 or 930. I wake up at 530 every day for work so that was very late for me. Just my point of view. Besides the night entertainment that I never seen there was absolutely zero during the day. The music was American country and at such a low volume I could barely hear it. Not a fun vibe at all. My first day there was a bubble party in the pool (Saturday). I did see some kind of workout water class on one afternoon. No calendar telling you what was happening from day to day or what the buffet was serving. I guess you walk in and around then leave? I felt it was rude to do that. Little snack stand by the pool had okay food. Chips and cheese, hamburgers or hotdogs, tacos after 6. The good parts. The people were amazing. So nice and kind. Everyone had a smile and said hi. The ladies at the spa were very kind and help me with my Spanish. I enjoyed that a lot. Tania and Anahi. (I hope I got that correct.)The water pressure was great. The bed was soft. The towels were really plushy. They have an AMSTAR consultant on the premises everyday. I liked that. The resort did have a menu up of how much a taxi would cost to each place. That was also very helpful. They did assist me with a taxi. I will not return.
I have been to this resort 4 times now. The employees are the friendliest & really make the trip worthwhile. Actually, Jose & Fozie even remembered me from 4 yrs. ago and welcomed me back. I just love these guys. They both work at the bars (pool, beach & lobby). I also need to include Pedro, Tamaliel & Oscar in the restaurants & Silberio & Eldo, the Bell Boys. The manager (& I can't remember his name & I'm sorry about that} was awesome in helping me to check in early for our flight & get the time that Amstar would be picking us up. He was just so nice. I know there were others that I don't remember the names but just know they were all the best!!! The food in all the restaurants was excellent, especially the seafood restaurant, Pier 12. We also ate at The Old Barn (steak) & Sumo (Japanese). The buffet was good & we had breakfast there. Everything is close by. The beach is beautiful. The only think I was disappointed in was they did not have a show every night like they used too so we hung out at the pool bar (right in front of the ocean) & open till 1 AM. We did see 3 shows out of the 7 nights we were there & they were great. We had a beautiful view of the ocean from our balcony which I loved. My friend & I plan on going back there again very soon. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Horrible experience! By far the worst vacation that my wife and I have ever experienced. Every time it rained the rooms leaked water down the walls. The ceiling tiles were falling out in the main bar area. The hot tub never worked. We booked a couples massage, and when we arrived, they said they did not have a therapist. After complaining, they found to ladies to give us the most rushed massage ever. The pictures online are very misleading!
4-stars - My wife and I booked a room her for our two year anniversary and had a great time. There were a variety of restaurants but the food was poor (besides the buffet). You could start drinking at 9am. The frozen drinks are good but I didn’t get buzzed even after 5 drinks.
5 stars - We had a great interaction with Antonio at the japanese restaurant (Suno/Sumo?). He was so kind and helpful and attentive. Highly recommend him as a server!
5 stars - We also had a great interaction with Heider when we’re eating at the buffet. He was so darn sweet and helpful! We ended up giving him a hat haha
Spent 12 nights at this resort from 23rd November 2023. Many pluses to the experience. All staff were very welcoming and attentive around the complex be it in the Restaurant, various Bars, Pool side Service. Oscar, Carlos and Danielle are just a a few names that spring to mind from Restaurant - but there are too many to mention or remember! Plus Carmen primarily serving around Pool area worked tirelessly in the heat of the day. Should also mention pleasant attitude of Cleaners to who were constantly keeping the resort clean and tidy including the bathroom facilities.
Cuisine across the variety of restaurants was always varied and cooked / served with out issues. Plenty of choices at each sitting in the Main Buffet restaurant, food cooked to order in specialist restaurants fed us well during our stay.
Large variety of drinks on offer, cocktails and wine/champagne included. Couldn't complain about this aspect at all.
Pool was clean and tidy, plenty of beds and towels provided; Beach clean and on the door step with Lifeguard keeping an close eye due to the tidal conditions. Saw him spring into action twice due to the actions of an irresponsible guest who would not heed to the red flag warnings two days running - unbelievable behaviour. Well done.
Yes - the resort is in need of upgrade / modernisation in certain areas; but you should not let this aspect deter from a visit. It is probably rated fairly. New management is in place and investment is likely in the coming months so I'm hearing.
Anyhow - in summary thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
