Stayed with my honey in a deluxe two bedroom apartment with a hot tub with a view of the ocean that I booked directly through Vale do Lobo’s website. The VDL property is gorgeous with picturesque golf courses, a major tennis club, swimming pool and much more. VDL offer “van” service, but having a car is a better option unless you want to stay in your apartment because the property is so vast...
Our hot tub was outside on a upper deck and heated to 29 C.
This is a high end resort that is well maintain and a good location for sun worshipers. Our unit; A32B, had three levels, a well equipped kitchen, ensuite master bathroom with separate tub and shower, a small second bedroom with an adjacent bathroom with shower and a living room. There are lots of housing options on the VDL property that can be obtained from multiple sources.
Absolutely loved VDL. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment. Was clean and modern...
As others have said, bed was hard, but that was only downside. Lovely welcome pack of food and drink left that was very welcome and was delicious.
Played both golf courses which can be quite slow, but courses are worth it.
Staff at reception/golf reception come across as arrogant, but despite this were helpful and changed tee times to help.
Check in was 5pm which is v unhelpful but reception did call us at 3.30 to say room was ready.
We loved the pool down by the beach, absolute bliss.
Shuttle bus v helpful and convenient.
Most restaurants down near sea were moderate at best. U & Co was outstanding though. Wholeheartedly recommend.

Arrived at midday and told that the apartment would not be ready until 5.00pm. ( 30 degrees outside ) …it was made available at 4.30 after assertive protest by self ) There was no SECURE area to store luggage. The receptionists attitude was unconcerning, ( possibly through bad training and management) and without empathy...
It took 30 minutes ( it’s coming sir ) for bus to the apartment to arrive - three further protests but a complete lack of interest and without apology. Only the key identifies the apartment number which is not communicated by any other means. One NEEDS ones own transport , there are apparently 1500 apartments in the resort and the distance between any aspect of it can be a good 20 minute walk ( or more) …
Thought I could solve my problem by renting an electric bike but non of the ten which I tried would work .
Apartment itself very comfortable with quiet air con and thoughtful provisions including croissants. I’d go back but only with a car and to stay for a week.
Turned up at half midday to be told can't check in till 5pm so a whole day wasted with no explanation also informed that if you want to eat or drink inside a covid test is required every time at every restaurant or bar. Please if you read this avoid so elsewhere
stayed 4 night and played 3 rounds of golf at Royal x 2 and Ocean x 1- courses good but can be slow play as get packed - buggies little high at Euro 45 each . Spikes bar excellent staff and service and easy for breakfast prior or wind down after - food good
stayed in 2 bed apartment - excellent rooms and space - beds little hard but for golf great .. u will need a car to get about the facility although shuttle bus does tour but gets full
